Destroying Evil Altars
Destroying Evil Altars
Today, we praying on the theme, “Destroying Evil Altars.” Throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself as a warrior who fights for His people and empowers them to wage victorious spiritual battles. As His Battle Axe (Jeremiah 51:20), the believer is called to uproot every structure of darkness that opposes the purpose of God. One of the most persistent and destructive of these structures is the evil altar—a spiritual platform where demonic forces receive sacrifices, make covenants, and influence destinies. To be effective as God’s battle axe, every believer must rise in divine power and destroy these altars through prayer, obedience, and holiness.
Understanding Evil Altars
An altar is a place of sacrifice, covenant, and spiritual exchange. In the Bible, both godly and ungodly men built altars to establish communion with the spirit realm. Abraham built altars to the Lord (Genesis 12:7–8), while Balaam and Balak raised evil altars to curse Israel (Numbers 23:1–2). Evil altars, therefore, are satanic structures—physical or spiritual—raised to empower darkness, sustain bondage, and oppose the will of God.
Evil altars can operate in families, communities, or nations. They serve as points of agreement between humans and demons, enforcing generational curses, failure, sickness, and oppression. Their goal is to silence the voice of righteousness and perpetuate sin and captivity.
The Believer as God’s Battle Axe
In Jeremiah 51:20, God declares:
“You are My battle-axe and weapons of war: For with you I will break the nation in pieces; with you I will destroy kingdoms.” (NKJV)
This means God uses His people as instruments of warfare to destroy the works of darkness. Through prayer, prophetic declaration, and obedience, the believer becomes an extension of God’s authority on earth. A consecrated life is key—because a polluted vessel cannot wield divine power effectively. God sharpens His battle axe through holiness, prayer, and the Word until it is ready to tear down demonic strongholds and altars.
The Nature of Spiritual Altars
Every altar has three components:
- A Sacrifice – what is offered to attract spiritual attention.
- A Priest – who services or maintains the altar.
- A Covenant – the agreement or law that keeps the altar functioning.
To destroy an evil altar, you must actively confront and address these three areas through spiritual warfare. Jesus Christ became our ultimate sacrifice, and His blood speaks better things than any demonic covenant (Hebrews 12:24). By invoking His blood, believers can nullify any sacrifice made on demonic altars. The priesthood of believers (1 Peter 2:9) replaces demonic priesthood, and the new covenant in Christ overrides every evil covenant made in ignorance or rebellion.
How to Destroy Evil Altars
To function as God’s Battle Axe in destroying evil altars, believers must follow divine order:
a. Consecration and Holiness
Before Gideon destroyed his father’s altar to Baal, God commanded him to first build an altar to the Lord (Judges 6:25–26). You must first consecrate yourself spiritually before you can bring down satanic altars. Holiness gives you legal standing in the courts of heaven.
b. Revelation Through the Word and Spirit
You win spiritual battles through revelation. The Holy Spirit reveals the hidden roots of demonic oppression. Only through divine light can you expose and destroy hidden altars (Psalm 18:28).
c. Warfare Prayers and Declarations
Believers must use their authority in Christ to dismantle demonic operations. Declaring the Word of God, pleading the blood of Jesus, and renouncing evil covenants are powerful tools for altar destruction (2 Corinthians 10:4–5).
d. Establishing the Altar of the Lord
When Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, he first repaired the altar of the Lord (1 Kings 18:30). It’s not enough to destroy evil altars—we must replace them with altars of worship, prayer, and obedience that sustain God’s presence in our lives and territories.
Signs That Evil Altars Have Been Destroyed
- Freedom from recurring family patterns and generational curses.
- Restoration of peace, fruitfulness, and answered prayers.
- Increased spiritual sensitivity and authority.
- Revival and righteousness taking root in homes and communities.
God’s Battle Axe in Action
As God’s battle axe, you are not a passive observer but an active enforcer of His kingdom. You are called to confront evil altars through fasting, intercession, and prophetic proclamation. You wield divine power not by human strength but by the Spirit of God (Zechariah 4:6). When you rise in obedience and faith, heaven backs you up to bring down every altar that speaks against your destiny, your family, your church, and your nation.
Conclusion: Destroying Evil Altars
Evil altars are real, but they cannot withstand the power of a consecrated believer filled with the Spirit of God. God is raising His battle axes in this generation—men and women who will not bow to Baal, who will pull down strongholds and establish His altar of righteousness on the earth.
Let every believer declare:
“Father, make me Your battle axe. Sharpen me for Your purpose, and through me, destroy every evil altar that resists Your will on earth.”
Prayer Points On Destroying Evil Altars
- Father, thank You for giving me authority over nations and kingdoms. By Your power, I uproot every evil altar influencing my life, family, and destiny. I pull them down, destroy them, and plant the altar of righteousness in their place, in Jesus’ name.
Jeremiah 1:10 (NKJV) – Authority to Uproot and Destroy
“See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant.”
- This reveals God’s mandate to His servants to uproot and destroy evil systems—including evil altars—and establish His righteous rule.
- Lord, as You empowered Gideon, empower me to tear down every altar of Baal in my family lineage. Let every demonic foundation resisting revival and progress be destroyed, and establish Your altar of worship in my home, in Jesus’ name.
Judges 6:25–26 (NKJV) – Tearing Down Family Altars
“Now it came to pass the same night that the Lord said to him, ‘Take your father’s young bull, the second bull of seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the wooden image that is beside it; and build an altar to the Lord your God on top of this rock in the proper arrangement, and take the second bull and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the image which you shall cut down.’”
- Gideon’s act of tearing down his father’s altar shows God’s call to destroy demonic foundations before revival can come.
- Father, restore Your true altar in my heart, family, and church. Let every broken altar of prayer and worship be rebuilt. As Elijah repaired the altar, help me to restore my devotion and purity so that Your fire may fall again, in Jesus’ name.
1 Kings 18:30 (NKJV) – Restoring the Altar of the Lord
“Then Elijah said to all the people, ‘Come near to me.’ So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down.”
- Before fire fell, Elijah first restored the altar of the Lord—symbolizing that restoration of true worship breaks the power of false altars.
- Lord, arm me with Your mighty spiritual weapons—Your Word, faith, and prayer. I cast down every stronghold, argument, and imagination raised against Your knowledge in my life. Let every evil altar bow to the authority of Christ in me, in Jesus’ name.
2 Corinthians 10:4–5 (NKJV) – Spiritual Weapons for Warfare
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”
- Believers destroy evil altars through spiritual, not physical, weapons—faith, prayer, and the Word.
- Father, I destroy every altar of idolatry, sin, and rebellion in my environment. Let every pillar of unrighteousness collapse by the power of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ name.
Exodus 34:13 (NKJV) – Destroying Idols and Evil Systems
“But you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images.”
- God commanded Israel to destroy every form of idolatry in the land to prevent spiritual corruption.
Dismantling Evil Altars
- Lord, separate me completely from every unclean altar and ungodly influence. Let every evil covenant be consumed by Your fire. I declare total deliverance and purification, in Jesus’ name.
Deuteronomy 7:5 (NKJV) – Total Separation from Evil Altars
“But thus you shall deal with them: you shall destroy their altars, and break down their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images, and burn their carved images with fire.”
- Total destruction of pagan altars signifies total separation from demonic influences.
- Father, arise and destroy every high place and incense altar raised against Your name in my life, church, and city. Let every false worship center crumble at Your presence, in Jesus’ name.
Leviticus 26:30 (NKJV) – God Destroys Evil Altars
“I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and cast your carcasses on the lifeless forms of your idols; and My soul shall abhor you.”
- God Himself promises to destroy evil altars that oppose His holiness and covenant.
- Lord, give me the zeal of Josiah to confront and destroy every form of false worship. Let every trace of compromise and idolatry in the land be broken, and establish Your truth and holiness, in Jesus’ name.
2 Kings 23:13–14 (NKJV) – Zeal for Purity in Worship
“Then the king defiled the high places that were east of Jerusalem, which were on the south of the Mount of Corruption, which Solomon king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the people of Ammon. And he broke in pieces the sacred pillars and cut down the wooden images, and filled their places with the bones of men.”
- King Josiah’s zeal in purging idolatrous altars shows how spiritual reform begins with destroying false worship.
- Father, remove every altar of strange gods operating in my community and nation. As You gave peace to Judah after Asa’s obedience, grant us peace and restoration as we seek You wholeheartedly, in Jesus’ name.
2 Chronicles 14:3–5 (NKJV) – Removing Altars of Foreign Gods
“For he removed the altars of the foreign gods and the high places, and broke down the sacred pillars and cut down the wooden images. He commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to observe the law and the commandment. He also removed the high places and the incense altars from all the cities of Judah, and the kingdom was quiet under him.”
- King Asa’s destruction of foreign altars restored peace and divine favor.
- Lord, ride through my city and nation in Your power. Let Your presence cause every evil altar to totter and every idol to fall. Melt the hearts of those who oppose Your reign, in Jesus’ name.
Isaiah 19:1 (NKJV) – God’s Presence Overthrows Idols
“The burden against Egypt. Behold, the Lord rides on a swift cloud, and will come into Egypt; The idols of Egypt will totter at His presence, and the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst.”
- When God manifests His glory, every evil altar and idol loses power.
Replacing Evil Altars with Godly Altars
- Father, cut off every carved image and evil altar raised against my destiny. Let every idol in my life and environment be destroyed by Your mighty hand, in Jesus’ name.
Micah 5:13 (NKJV) – God Cuts Off Evil Altars

- God declares that He Himself will cut off every demonic altar and idol worship.
- Lord, purify my heart from double-mindedness. Break down every altar of hypocrisy and rebellion in my life and the church. Unite our hearts to fear Your name, in Jesus’ name.
Hosea 10:2 (NKJV) – Breaking Altars of Hypocrisy
“Their heart is divided; Now they are held guilty. He will break down their altars; He will ruin their sacred pillars.”
- A divided heart leads to judgment—God destroys altars raised in hypocrisy or rebellion.
- Father, let every hidden force and evil altar surrender to the authority of Christ in me. Cause strangers—demonic powers and oppressors—to flee from their hiding places, in Jesus’ name.
Psalm 18:44–45 (NKJV) – Victory Over Hidden Forces
“As soon as they hear of me they obey me; The foreigners submit to me. The foreigners fade away, and come frightened from their hideouts.”
- When empowered by God, His battle axe commands demonic altars and spirits to submit and flee.
- Lord, go before me and make every crooked place straight. Break the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron. Let every evil altar and demonic resistance on my path be shattered, in Jesus’ name.
Isaiah 45:2 (NKJV) – Breaking Evil Barriers
“I will go before you and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron.”
- God’s presence goes ahead of His people to destroy barriers, strongholds, and evil foundations.
- Thank You, Jesus, for the victory of the Cross. By Your blood, every handwriting of evil against me is wiped out. I proclaim that every altar speaking against my life is silenced forever, and I triumph over all powers of darkness, in Jesus’ mighty name.
Colossians 2:14–15 (NKJV) – Victory at the Cross
“Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”
- The Cross is the ultimate altar where Jesus destroyed every evil covenant, altar, and demonic power forever.
