Faith In God’s Timing
Faith In God’s Timing
Today, we will be praying for the grace to have faith in God’s timing. God has His own timetable for what we are trusting Him for. So, delay in your prayers is not a denial. The scriptures says in Habakkuk that the vision is yet for an appointed time but at the end it shall speak and not lie. When God speaks he stands by His Words. His timing might be different from your timing but that doesn’t mean that He will not honour His Words.
God’s Perfect Timing and Our Faith
God told Abraham that He will give him a son. That promise was fulfilled twenty-five years later. Although Abraham wanted the promise to come earlier. If the promise of the child had come earlier, maybe Abraham would not have become the father of faith. His faith in waiting for several years for the promise of God accounts to one of the reasons why he is described as the father of faith. Today, there are some lessons that we can learn from Abraham. We learn perseverance, faith and absolute trust in the Word of God. We learn from Abraham that when God speaks, no matter how long His Words will come to pass. Also, we learn that with God, nothing is impossible.
In the process of waiting initially for Isaac, the promised child, Abraham made some initial mistakes. At one point he thought that Eliezer, his servant, would be his heir. Later, Sarah suggested that Abraham should sleep with Hagar, who was his servant. Abraham did and they gave birth to Ishmael. That was one terrible mistake he made before God called him to order. He later chased Ishmael away and waited for God’s promise. That one mistake of impatience for God’s promise has caused a generational fight between the descendants of Ishamel and the Israelites. You need to have faith in God’s timing.
God also promised Abraham a land that is flowing with milk and honey. This promise was fully fulfilled hundreds of years later. Even Abraham did not live to see the full fulfillment of that promise he trusted in God’s timing. You also need to trust in God’s timing for what He has promised you.
Divine Timing and Faith
In the story of David, we can also learn about faith in God’s timing. David was anointed as a king in Israel but it took him thirteen years to get to the throne. Yer, David patiently waited on God to fulfill His promises. Many of us give up during our waiting period because we expect God to work with our own time table. God’s time is the best. No matter how long His promises take, it is worth waiting for.
As we pray today, I pray that God will give us the grace to have faith in God’s timing. I also pray that the things that God had promised us will come to pass in Jesus’ name.
Prayer Points:
- Father, I pray that you will increase my faith. God, I pray for the grace to have faith in your timing. I pray for the grace to wait and trust in you for all your promises in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that you will visit me just like you visited Sarah in Jesus’ name.
Genesis 21:1-3 (NKJV)
And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. 2 For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. 3 And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him—whom Sarah bore to him—Isaac
2. Father, I pray that you will increase my faith. God, I have faith in your timing and I pray that all your promises will come to pass in my life in Jesus’ name. Father, I pray that I will be strengthened in faith and you will increase my capacity to receive all of your promises
Hebrews 11:11-12 (NKJV)
By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.
3. Father, I pray for the grace to wait for your promises. God, I have faith in your timing and I pray that all my dreams shall come to pass at the appointed time in Jesus’ name.
Genesis 50:20 (NKJV)
But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.
4. Father, I pray that you will bring all your promises to pass in my life speedily in Jesus’ name. God, I have faith in your timing, so, I pray that just as you remember Joseph, you will remember me in Jesus’ name.
Genesis 41:46 (NKJV)
Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.
Embracing Divine Timing with Faith
5. Father, I pray for the grace to subdue kingdoms by faith. God, I have faith in your timing. I pray that just like you sent deliverance to the Israelites and delivered them from their Egyptians taskmasters, you will deliver me from all forms of oppressors in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that you will take me to my promised land.
Exodus 3:10-12 (NKJV)
Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” 12 So He said, “I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”
6. Father, I pray that you will remember me and visit me today. God, I have faith in your timing. I pray that just like you remember David and anoint him among his brethren, you will remember me today and pour your anointing upon me in Jesus’ name.

8. Father, I pray that you will visit me in Jesus’ name. God, I have faith in your timing. I pray that just like you visited Hannah at the appointed time, you will remember me and visit me today in Jesus’ name. Father, I pray that you will turn my barrenness into fruitfulness in Jesus’ name
1 Samuel 2:21 (NKJV)
And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile the child Samuel grew before the Lord.
9. Father, I thank you because the vision you have given me is for an appointed time and it will speak at the end. God, I have faith in your timing. So, I pray that you will hasten to bring your Word to pass in my life in Jesus’ name.
Habakkuk 2:3-4 (NKJV)
For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry. 4 “Behold the proud, his soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.
