Faith In The Face of Adversity

Faith In The Face of Adversity

Today, we will be praying about faith in the face of adversity. It is not everyone that can have faith in the face of adversity. The Israelites in the wilderness did not have faith in the face of adversity. Despite witnessing numerous miracles, the Israelites frequently doubted God during their journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. They complained about the lack of food and water, expressed fear of their enemies, and even longed to return to slavery in Egypt. What do you do when you are faced with challenges? Do you express faith or doubt? God expects us to have faith in Him in the face of adversity.

Another example of those who expressed doubt in the face of adversity are the ten spies. Out of the twelve spies sent to scout the Promised Land, ten returned with a report that instilled fear and doubt among the Israelites, expressing that the inhabitants were too strong to conquer. Their lack of faith caused the people to rebel against Moses and God. Whenever God makes a promise, He fulfills it. He is not a man that should lie. God punished these ten spies alongside the Israelites who believed in their report. He prevented them from entering the promised l;and. They all died in the wilderness after wandering for forty years. Don’t be like the ten spies. Have faith in God in the face of adversity. God is capable of saving you in times of adversity.

Overcoming Obstacles with Faith

Elijah also showed some doubt in the face of adversity. After his victory over the prophets of Baal, Elijah fled in fear of Queen Jezebel’s threat, feeling despondent and requesting to die despite God’s previous miracles. This shows that no matter how anointed you are, there can be some life threatening situations that sow the seed of doubt in you. No matter what you are going through, ensure that you have faith in the face of adversity.

Apostle Paul demonstrated great faith in the face of adversity. He endured significant hardships, including imprisonment, beatings, shipwrecks, and constant threats to his life. He remained steadfast in his mission to spread the Gospel. Paul had a strong faith in God that nothing could separate him from the love of Christ. He did not allow persecution or famine. He was ready to go all the way for Jesus in spreading the gospel despite all the challenges. You should also be like Apostle Paul and have faith in the face of adversity. I pray that God will strengthen your faith in the face of adversity in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Points:

  1. Father, I thank you for increasing my faith in the face of adversity. Lord, I pray that no matter what I face in the pursuit of the assignment that you have given me, I pray that you will strengthen me to be able to overcome those challenges in Jesus’ name. Father, I pray for the grace to finish my race very strong

2 Corinthians 11:23-28 (NKJV)

Are they ministers of Christ?—I speak as a fool—I am more: in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often. 24 From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. 25 Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep;

26 in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; 27 in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness— 28 besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches.

2. Father, I thank you for giving me a great faith in the face of adversity, Lord, I pray for the grace to overcome all challenges that might come my way in the course of serving you in Jesus’ name.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (NKJV)

We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed

3. Father, I thank you for increasing my faith in the face of adversity. Lord, I pray that just like you gave Apostle Paul the grace to run the race and finished well. Father, I thank you because I can do all things because you have strengthened me

Philippians 4:12-13 (NKJV)

I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

4. Father, I thank you for boosting my faith in the face of adversity. Lord, I pray that you will give me a supernatural strength for the task ahead of me in Jesus’ name.

Proverbs 24:10 (NKJV)

If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small

5. Father, I thank you for increasing my faith in the face of adversity. Lord, I pray that you will deliver me from suffering and you will perfect, establish, strengthen and settle me in Jesus’ name.

1 Peter 5:10 (NKJV)

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

Unyielding Faith in Tough Times

6. Father, I thank you for giving me great faith in the face of adversity. Lord, I pray that the testing of my faith will produce patience and patience will perfect its work in my life. I pray that I will be complete and lacking nothing in Jesus’ name.

James 1:2-4 (NKJV)

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing

7. Father, I thank you for increasing my faith in the face of adversity. Lord, I thank you because all things are working together for my good because I love you and I am called according to your purpose.

Romans 8:28 (NKJV)

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose

8. Father, I thank you for boosting my faith in the face of adversity. Lord, I receive the grace to be sober and vigilant. Father, I pray the devil will not devour me in Jesus’ name. I resist the devil by faith and I command him to lose his grip over all that belong to me in Jesus’ name.

1 Peter 5:8-9 (NKJV)

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world

9. Father, I thank you for increasing my faith in the face of adversity. Lord, I pray that you will deliver me from afflictions as I live righteously in Jesus’ name.

Psalm 34:19 (NKJV)

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
