Overcoming Challenges With Faith
Overcoming Challenges With Faith
Today, we will pray that God will give us the grace to overcome challenges through faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Challenges will always come, but if you don’t have the faith to overcome those challenges, the challenges can consume you. God never promised that you will not pass through waters. He however promised to be with you when you pass through waters. Take note of the word “when”. He said “when” and not “if.” This shows that passing through the waters is automatic for everyone. The difference between the believers and the unbelievers is the presence of God. God is always with you when you pass through the waters, but do you have enough faith to be conscious of His presence and receive your breakthrough. You need faith to overcome life challenges.
Faith: Your Ally in Overcoming Challenges
God also promised to be with us when we pass through the fire. He did not promise you that you will not pass through the fire. However, you can pass through the fire and the fire will not consume you. Why, because God guarantees us His presence when we pass through the fire. Fire has the capacity to consume. However, the fire did not consume the three Hebrews when they passed through the fire. The Son of God came right into their midst in that fire. You can walk freely in the fire if you have faith. The three Hebrews had faith that God would deliver them from the fire and God honored their faith.
There was a time when the disciples and Jesus were inside the ship and they experienced a storm. Jesus was sleeping in the midst of the storm. The storm was not even afraid of the presence of Jesus. It came despite the fact that Jesus was in the ship. The disciples did not have enough faith to overcome this challenge. They cried unto Jesus for help. Ordinarily, Jesus was expecting them to rebuke the storm and the storm would have become calm. That was exactly what Jesus did, He rebuked the storm and there was a great calm. However, Jesus told the disciples that they had little faith.
Triumphing Over Adversity Through Faith
Are you also shivering and fainting because of the storm? You can overcome all forms of challenges through faith. You can speak the Word of faith to that storm and it will listen to you. Joshua spoke to the Sun and the Moon and they listened to him. Elijah commanded fire from heaven and the fire fell. God used Moses to part the sea by the use of an ordinary rod. There is no challenge that you can not overcome if you have faith in God. As we pray today, I pray that God will give you the grace to overcome all challenges through faith in Jesus’ name.
Examples of Those Who Overcame Challenges Through Faith In The Bible
The Bible is filled with stories of individuals who overcame significant challenges through their faith in God. Here are a few examples:
-
Abraham
Abraham faced numerous challenges, including being asked to leave his homeland and later being tested by God to sacrifice his son Isaac. His unwavering faith in God’s promises saw him become the father of many nations (Genesis 12-25).
-
Joseph
Sold into slavery by his brothers, falsely accused, and imprisoned, Joseph maintained his faith in God throughout his trials. His faith and integrity eventually led to his rise as the second most powerful man in Egypt, saving many lives during a severe famine (Genesis 37-50).
-
Moses
Moses overcame numerous obstacles, from his initial reluctance to lead the Israelites out of Egypt to dealing with their frequent complaints and disobedience. His faith in God’s guidance helped him lead the Israelites to the brink of the Promised Land (Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy).
-
David
As a young shepherd, David faced the giant Goliath with faith in God’s power. Despite facing numerous challenges, including being pursued by King Saul, David’s faith in God helped him become one of Israel’s greatest kings (1 Samuel 17-31, 2 Samuel).
-
Job
Job experienced immense suffering, losing his wealth, children, and health. Despite his profound anguish, he maintained his faith in God and was eventually restored and blessed even more abundantly (Book of Job).
-
Daniel
Daniel faced the challenge of maintaining his faith in a foreign land where idol worship was prevalent. His unwavering faith in God protected him from the lions’ den and enabled him to interpret dreams and visions, earning him high positions in the Babylonian and Persian empires (Book of Daniel).
-
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego
These three young men refused to bow down to King Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image, even when threatened with death in a fiery furnace. Their faith in God delivered them from the flames, unharmed (Daniel 3).
-
Esther
Queen Esther risked her life to save her people from a decree calling for their extermination. Her faith and courage led to the deliverance of the Jews in Persia (Book of Esther).
-
Paul
The Apostle Paul faced numerous hardships, including imprisonment, beatings, and shipwrecks. Despite these trials, his faith in Christ drove him to spread the Gospel across the Roman Empire (Acts, Pauline Epistles).
-
Mary, the Mother of Jesus
Mary faced societal shame and potential rejection when she accepted God’s call to bear Jesus. Her faith and obedience played a crucial role in God’s redemptive plan (Gospels, particularly Luke 1-2).
These individuals exemplify how faith in God can provide strength, guidance, and deliverance in the face of adversity.

By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, 18 even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” 19 Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.

Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. 27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.
9. Father, I pray that you will give me the grace to overcome all challenges through faith in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that just as you gave Mary the grace to overcome her challenges, i will also overcome all challenges through faith in Jesus’ name

37 For with God nothing will be impossible.” 38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
