Praying Against Doors Of Ignoble Desires
Today, we will be praying against doors of ignoble desires. What does ignoble mean? Ignoble means not honorable in character or purpose. It is characterized by baseness, lowness or meanness. Ignoble means being below the normal standards of human decency and dignity. It means a loss of some essential high quality of mind and spirit.
In our world today, ignoble desires are becoming rampant. There are so many unlawful sexual relations in the world which are being legalized in many nations. The sins of Sodom and Gomorrah looks like a child’s play to what is happening in our world today. Yet, the standard of the Lord stands sure. With the advent of the internet, a lot of ignoble information is out there and if there is any time we need to watch and pray, it is now.
What we see and what we read on a daily basis is shaping our world either positively or negatively. This is the time to consciously train your children and constantly pray for them because sin is now available for free globally and there is an unhindered access to ignoble information through the internet. The love of many has waxed cold. There are killings, maiming, and gangsterism all over the world.
Winning souls and discipleship is more important now than ever. God has promised us that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14). It is high time we started spreading this knowledge so that we can snatch many souls from the clutches of Satan. We will be praying against doors of ignoble desires in our churches and in the society at large as we take a stand against unrighteousness.
Prayer Points
- Father, I thank you for giving me the grace to know you and for strengthening me in faith. Lord, I thank you for building me up and for bearing root in you. Thank you for shutting the doors of ignoble desires.
Colossians 2:6-7
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
2. Father, I pray that you will fill for those who are embracing ignoble desires with the knowledge of God . I pray for those who have a depraved mind that you will deliver them in Jesus’ name. Deliver this nation from all forms of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. Rescue those who are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice in Jesus’ name.
Romans 1:28-30
Since they didn’t bother to acknowledge God, God quit bothering them and let them run loose. And then all hell broke loose: rampant evil, grabbing and grasping, vicious backstabbing. They made life hell on earth with their envy, wanton killing, bickering, and cheating. Look at them: mean-spirited, venomous, fork-tongued God-bashers. Bullies, swaggerers, insufferable windbags! They keep inventing new ways of wrecking lives. They ditch their parents when they get in the way. Stupid, slimy, cruel, cold-blooded. And it’s not as if they don’t know better. They know perfectly well they’re spitting in God’s face. And they don’t care—worse, they hand out prizes to those who do the worst things best!
3. Father, I pray for the grace to say no to ungodliness and worldly passions. I pray for the grace to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives especially in this present age. I pray that you will save all men from ignoble desires in Jesus’ name.
Titus 2:11-14
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
4. Father, I pray that my eyes will be single and I will guard my heart with all diligence. I pray for all those who are struggling with lust, fornication and adultery that you will set them free in Jesus’ name.
Matthew 5:28
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
5. Father, I pray that you will deliver me from sexual immorality in Jesus’ name. I pray that I will continually preserve my body as your temple in Jesus’ name.
1 Corinthians 6:13
You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
6. Father, I pray for the grace to flee all evil desires and to pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. Lord, I pray that you will purify my heart in Jesus’ name.
2 Timothy 2:22
Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
7. Father, I pray that you will deliver me from the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life in Jesus’ name. I pray that I will be freed from all forms of ignoble desires in Jesus’ name.
1 John 2:16
For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
8. Father, I pray that you will deliver those who are full of lustful eyes from strange women in Jesus’ name. I pray for that the will keep their bed undefiled in Jesus’ name.
Proverbs 6:25
Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes.
9. Father, I pray for the grace to walk by the Spirit and not to gratify the desires of the flesh in Jesus’ name. I destroy every loophole through which the devil might be planning to penetrate through in Jesus’ name.
Galatians 5:6
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
10. Father, I pray that my mind will be governed by the Spirit so that I can have life and peace. I pray that the flesh will not have dominion over me in Jesus’ name.
Romans 8:6
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
11. Father, I pray that I will not be enticed and dragged away by evil desires. I pray that you will deliver me from all forms of temptations that will lead to sin and eternal death in Jesus’ name.
James 1:14-15
“But each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”
