Praying For The Church Part 2

Day 16: 40 DAYS PRAYER, FASTING AND WORSHIP FEB 3rd to MARCH 14th, 2021. 2021, A YEAR OF NEW BEGINNING - ISAIAH 43:17-19

Short Exhortation About Praying For The Church

Today, we will be praying for the Church to be more united. There are lots of divisions in the Church today more than ever before. Yet, the body of Christ is not divided.  We are one body in Christ. Although we have the leaders of different denominations, Jesus Christ is still the head of His Church. 1 Corinthians 3:4-7 says, “When one of you says, “I am a follower of Paul,” and another says, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you acting just like people of the world? After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”

Apostle Paul tried to explain here that our leaders in different denominations are God’s servants through whom we believe the Good News. Each of our spiritual leaders in the Christendom are doing the work that God gave them and there should be no division in the Church as a result of that. It is wrong for some to say that they are following Paul, while others are saying that they are for Apollos. We are all working towards the same goal as the body of Christ and it is Jesus Christ that will bring increase upon all our efforts. We pray that there will no longer be division in the body of Christ in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Points About Praying For The Church

1. Lord, we are praying for the church that there will be unity in the body of Christ. We will come to the reality that we are co-workers in God’s service. We will realize that we are God’s field and God’s building. We pray that we will all work in unity of purpose in Jesus’ name

1 Corinthians 3:9

“For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.”

2. Father, we pray that the Church will not deviate from the foundation laid by the apostles and the prophets in Jesus’ name. The Church will realize that we are fellow citizens and members of the same household in Jesus’ name.

Ephesians 2:19-20

“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.”

3. Lord, we are praying for the church that the Church will come to the consciousness that we are baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body and we will continue to live as one body in Christ in Jesus’ name

1 Corinthians 12:13

“For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.”

4. God, we pray that you will silence all those who are causing divisions and putting obstacles in the ways of the brethren in Jesus’ name. Father, silence all those that are doing things that are contrary to the teaching of the scriptures in Jesus’ name

Romans 16:17

“I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.”

5. Lord, we pray that God will give those who are trying to destroy God’s temple a change of heart in Jesus’ name. Lord touch their hearts and let them change, so that they will not be destroyed in Jesus’ name.

1 Corinthians 3:17

“If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.”

6. Lord, we pray that as the Church, we will continually build up ourselves in our most holy faith  in Jesus’ name. We will continually pray in the Holy Spirit and keep ourselves in God’s love. We pray that we will not lose the eternal life that Jesus Christ has given us in Jesus’ name

Jude 1:20-21

“But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.”

7. Father, we pray that though we have many parts in the Church and we have various denominations, we will always remember that we are one body and live and act in that consciousness in Jesus’ name.

1 Corinthians 12:12

“Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.”

8. Lord, we pray that the Church will continually realize that we have been called into fellowship with Jesus Christ and we will not lose that fellowship in Jesus’ name

1 Corinthians 1:9

“God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord”

9. Lord, we pray that as the Church, we will continually devote ourselves to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship, to breaking of bread and to prayer in Jesus’ name

Acts 2:42

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”

10. Lord, we pray that you will constantly add to the Church in Jesus’ name. We pray for a massive Church growth in Calgary, in Canada, in North America and all over the world in Jesus’ name

Acts 2:41

“Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.”

11. Father, we pray that the Church will not follow the world’s pattern in Jesus’ name, instead, we will follow Christ. Though God has given us many great leaders in the Church, we will come to the realization that Jesus Christ is the head of the Church and we will continually look at Him as our perfect example in Jesus’ name. We pray that the Christian leaders will unite the Church and not further divide the Church in Jesus’ name

1 Corinthians 3:4-7

“When one of you says, “I am a follower of Paul,” and another says, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you acting just like people of the world? After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”

1 Corinthians 11:1

“Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ”
