Thank God for Giving You Rest Over Your Children

Thank God for Giving You Rest Over Your Children

Entering Into God's Rest

Today, you should pray and thank God for giving you rest over your children. Cain and Abel were the first set of children that God gave to Adam and Eve. The two of them offered their offering to God. However, God accepted Abel’s offering and rejected Cain’s offering. We could see jealousy and envy in Cain because God accepted Abel’s offering. Cain killed his brother,  and he became the first murderer recorded in the bible. He followed in the footsteps of Satan whose mission is to kill, steal and to destroy. I pray that God will give you rest over your children in Jesus’ name. Your children will not follow the footsteps of Satan.

Concerns About The Children of Job

Job was a righteous man. Even God testified about Job’s righteousness. However, God did not say the same thing about Job’s children. Only God knows the kind of life that Job’s children were leaving. They were always throwing wild parties and their father was always afraid that they could have sinned against God. Job did not trust his children’s character the same way God trusted and testified about Job’s character. Job 1:5 says, “When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would make arrangements for them to be purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom.”

Job’s children were unpredictable. God testified about the character of Job but God did not testify about Job’s children’s character. For Job to always sacrifice a burnt offering for his children thinking that they might have sinned against God and cursed God, it shows that they were capable of doing so. At the end of the day, Job lost all his children. I pray that our children will give us rest in Jesus’ name.

Another lesson we need to learn here is that Job was praying for his children in a place of fear. We should not pray a fearful prayer for our children. We should always pray in faith and not in fear. Job was reactive about his children instead of being proactive. He was supposed to train his children the way of the Lord. If he has done so, he should be able to testify about the character of the children. Job should have trained his children and raised them properly instead of trying to appease God and sacrifice to Him to forgive their sins. For you to have rest over your children, you have to raise them properly and train them in the ways of God.

Other Children Who Refused To Give Their Parents Rest

We have many other children in the bible who refused to give their parents rest. Absalom the son of David, waged war against his father, and he plotted to kill him. Also, Nadab and Abihu, the two sons of Aaron,  offered a strange fire unto the Lord and they died as a result of this. Hophni and Phinehas, the two children of Eli, treated the offering of the Lord with contempt and they also died. I pray that you will not experience calamity over your children in Jesus’ name. I pray that your children will give you rest and you will have every reason to give thanks to God.
