Understanding Your Life’s Manual
Do You Understand God’s Manual For Your Life?
Every gadget has a manual, but we underutilize many gadgets because we don’t read their manual. In the same vein, every creature of God was created for a purpose. Fishes are created to swim and they can only function well in their natural habitat which is inside the water. If you take a fish out of the water, it can never survive. In the same vein, birds are created to fly and that is why God gave them wings so that they can fly. If you cut the wings of the birds, you have destroyed their destiny. So also, every man is created to function in a particular area of gifting. Our God is a God of purpose. Every man is born for a purpose. So we cannot afford to live our lives purposelessly. There is a specific assignment that God wants you to carry out here on earth.
Romans 8:28
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”
Ephesians 2:10
“ For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Isaiah 46:10
“ I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, “My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.”

Pray To Understand God’s Manual For Your Life
One of the ways to discover who you are is to check the manual for your life. The scripture is the manual that defines who you are. Your picture is in the scriptures. Just like a man needs the mirror to see how he looks physically, a man needs the scripture to see his picture spiritually. How does the word of God define you?
Parents Can Pray For God To Reveal His Manual For Their Children’s Life
Parents can actually know God’s purpose for their children even before their conception. God can show you the manual for your children’s life if you seek His face concerning this. Mary knew that Jesus Christ will save the world from their sins, before his conception. Samson’s parents knew God’s plan for him before his conception. Moses’ mother was spiritually sensitive to know that Moses was not an ordinary child, so she hid him and kept him from being killed. Hannah pledged that the son that God would give her would be given back to God. Abraham knew that Isaac was the child of promise. Jacob knew what would happen to each of his children and their generations yet unborn. He even foretold that Jesus Christ will come from the lineage of Judah.
Jesus’ Purpose Revealed To Mary:
Luke 1: 26-38 (NIV)
“26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth, your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.”
38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.”
Samson’s Manual Revealed To His Parents
Judges 13:1-13
“Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord, so the Lord delivered them into the hands of the Philistines for forty years.
2 A certain man of Zorah, named Manoah, from the clan of the Danites, had a wife who was childless, unable to give birth. 3 The angel of the Lord appeared to her and said, “You are barren and childless, but you are going to become pregnant and give birth to a son. 4 Now see to it that you drink no wine or other fermented drink and that you do not eat anything unclean. 5 You will become pregnant and have a son whose head is never to be touched by a razor because the boy is to be a Nazirite, dedicated to God from the womb. He will take the lead in delivering Israel from the hands of the Philistines.”
6 Then the woman went to her husband and told him, “A man of God came to me. He looked like an angel of God, very awesome. I didn’t ask him where he came from, and he didn’t tell me his name. 7 But he said to me, ‘You will become pregnant and have a son. Now then, drink no wine or other fermented drink and do not eat anything unclean, because the boy will be a Nazirite of God from the womb until the day of his death.’”
8 Then Manoah prayed to the Lord: “Pardon your servant, Lord. I beg you to let the man of God you sent to us come again to teach us how to bring up the boy who is to be born.” 9 God heard Manoah, and the angel of God came again to the woman while she was out in the field; but her husband Manoah was not with her. 10 The woman hurried to tell her husband, “He’s here! The man who appeared to me the other day!”
11 Manoah got up and followed his wife. When he came to the man, he said, “Are you the man who talked to my wife?” “I am,” he said. 12 So Manoah asked him, “When your words are fulfilled, what is to be the rule that governs the boy’s life and work?” 13 The angel of the Lord answered, “Your wife must do all that I have told her. 14 She must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine, nor drink any wine or other fermented drink nor eat anything unclean. She must do everything I have commanded her.”
Moses’ Parents Noticed Something Extraordinary About Moses:
Hebrews 11:23 (NIV)
By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.
However, Isaac was not spiritually sensitive to the plans and purpose of God for His children. He wanted to bless Esau instead of Jacob (Genesis 27). Joseph did not realize that his younger son Ephraim will be greater than Manasseh. Jacob his father was more spiritually sensitive and he said the younger shall be greater than the older. Joseph placed his older son Manasseh at the right hand of Jacob, while he placed the younger son, Epharim, at the left hand of Jacob when he wanted Jacob to bless them. Jacob reversed his hands saying the younger shall be greater than the younger (Genesis 48).
Genesis 48:17-19
“Now when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him; so he took hold of his father’s hand to remove it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head. And Joseph said to his father, “Not so, my father , for this one is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head,”
But his father refused and said, I know my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and also shall be great; but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations.”
One of the major mistakes we make as parents is thinking that the first born must have the best privileges above the younger ones. However, God will sometimes leave the elder and use the younger more than his elder brothers or sisters.. For instance in the case of Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, Moses was the youngest but also the greatest. In the case of Jacob and Esau, Jacob was the youngest, but he was the one who received his father’s blessings. If we also consider Joseph and all his brothers, Joseph was more prominent than his brothers. Considering the case of David and his brothers also, God preferred David as the king of Israel above his brothers. So let’s be sensitive to God’s leading because His ways are not our ways.
Prayer Point:
God, please reveal your manual for my life to me. Give me an insight into your plans and purpose for my life. I also pray that you will reveal the plans and purpose of my children to me. I will not misdirect them but instead, I pray that you will order their steps so that they can fulfill their destinies. Open the eyes of understanding of my children and let them discover their purpose in life just like Samuel did at a tender age. Thank you Jesus for answered prayers. In Jesus’ name I have prayed. Amen!
If you have not given your life to Jesus and you want to do so, say this prayer: “Lord Jesus, thank you for saving me by dying on the cross for me. I acknowledge that I am a sinner because all have sinned and come short of your glory. I believe that your blood has the power to cleanse me from my sins. Today, I accept you as my personal Lord and Saviour. I repent of my sins and as from now on I will no longer be a slave to sin. Instead, I embrace your righteousness, and I will begin to walk in the consciousness of the new light that I have found in you. In Jesus’ name I have prayed( amen).
