Praying Against Stormy Relationships

Night of Divine Encounter (NODE) 10th Edition, Day 4 - Praying Against Stormy Relationships - Join us on Friday, May 6th, 2022 for the Night of Divine Encounter between 7pm to 10pm MST. Theme- The Storm Is Over

Praying Against Stormy Relationships

Today, we will be praying against stormy relationships. When Jonah entered the ship, everyone in that ship never noticed that it was a bad omen. Although he was a respected man of God. Jonah could be described as a national prophet. God sent him to the city of Nineveh to preach to the land so that they can repent. So, you might have thought that it was a good relationship. What ship or relationship have you entered into today that has become very turbulent and leading to a great storm. These ships could be fellowship, followership, companionship, mentorship, leadership, apprenticeship, kingship, chieftainship, colleagueship,  associateship, governorship, discipleship, partnership or friendship.

There was no storm in Samson’s life until he started having a relationship with the good looking ladies among the Philistines. No matter how good and enticing an ungodly relationship is, it will always lead to destruction. Samson walked in the valley of the shadow of death but he encountered evil because God was not with him. God had already given us instructions not to be unequally yoked with the unbelievers. Samson continued in the wrong relationships until he met Delilah. It was Delilah who eventually dug his grave. Samson was a mighty man whom thousands of Philistines could not conquer. However,  he was conquered on the lap of Delilah, a woman whom he had a wrong relationship with.

Unequal Yoke Are Stormy Relationships

Solomon was supposed to continue with the legacy of his father David. Unlike his father who fought many wars, the realm of king Solomon was very peaceful. God preferred him above others not minding his ignoble background. He was born by Beersheba, the woman that David snatched from Uriah after he had killed him. If not for the fact that God normally uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise, Solomon was not supposed to get to the throne. He was born by the woman that David committed adultery with. However, God preferred him above the sons of other women. Solomon started well but ended badly due to an ungodly relationship with strange women. The strange woman drew his heart away from God. Any relationship that will take you away from God is a stormy relationship.

Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and He is an all-knowing God. However, one of His twelve disciples was eventually the person who betrayed him. The relationship between Jesus and Judas looked cordial but Judas was a green snake under the green grass. He was a mentee who used a kiss to betray his mentor. Kiss that was supposed to be an indication of the highest form of love became an instrument of betrayal. Judas betrayed his master for thirty shekels of silver. As far as Jesus was concerned, He knew the intention of Judas all along. I pray that God will deliver you from a stormy relationship in Jesus’ name.

2. Father, I pray against stormy relationships with those who are very close to me. Lord, I pray that you will deliver me from people like Judas who betrayed his master for money.

Luke 22:1-6

Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching, 2 and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people. 3 Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve. 4 And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. 5 They were delighted and agreed to give him money. 6 He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.

3. Father, I pray that you will deliver me from a stormy relationship and from those who are plotting to terminate my life. Lord, I pray that you will abort the plots of those who ganged up against me

Genesis 37:18-20

But they saw him in the distance, and before he reached them, they plotted to kill him. 19 “Here comes that dreamer!” they said to each other. 20 “Come now, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we’ll see what comes of his dreams.”

2 Samuel 15:31

Now David had been told, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” So David prayed, “LORD, turn Ahithophel’s counsel into foolishness.”

5. Father, I pray that you will deliver me from stormy relationships and from people like Delilah. Lord, I pray that you guide me and uphold me so that I will not willingly enter into a stormy relationship in Jesus’ name

Judges 16:4-6

Some time later, Samson fell in love with a woman named Delilah, who lived in Sorek Valley. 5 The Philistine rulers[a] went to Delilah and said, “Trick Samson into telling you what makes him so strong and what can make him weak. Then we can tie him up so he can’t get away. If you find out his secret, we will each give you 1,100 pieces of silver. 6. The next time Samson was at Delilah’s house, she asked, “Samson, what makes you so strong? How can I tie you up so you can’t get away? Come on, you can tell me.”

6. Father, I pray that you will deliver me from an employment relationship that is stormy in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that you will constantly lead me to a green pasture in Jesus’ name

7. Father, I pray that I will not enter into a relationship that is stormy in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that turbulent person will not enter into my ship in Jesus’ name

Jonah 1:3-5

But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.

4 Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up. 5 All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship.

8. Father, I pray that you will deliver me from a bad company in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that you will give me the wisdom to choose my company wisely in Jesus’ name.

1 Corinthians 15:33

Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”

9. Father, I pray that you will deliver me from those who cause divisions and create obstacles that are contrary to your plans and purpose for my life in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that you will give me the grace to constantly watch and pray in Jesus’ name.

Romans 16:17-18

I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.

10. Father, I pray that I  that you will give me the grace not to make friends with a man given to anger. Lord, I pray that you will give me a discerning spirit to avoid a man given to wrath in Jesus’ name.

Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare.

11. Father, I pray for the grace to constantly walk with the wise and not with the companions of fools in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that you will deliver me from a stormy relationship in Jesus’ name

For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.

13. Father, I pray that you will give me the grace to always speak soft words and harsh words in Jesus’ name. Lord, deliver me from stormy relationships

Proverbs 15:1

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

14. Father, I pray for the grace not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. Lord, deliver me from partnership with lawlessness or darkness in Jesus’ name

2 Corinthians 6:14

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

15. Father, I pray that you will deliver me from friendship with those who are being led and ruled by the flesh. Lord, I pray that you will deliver me from the work of the flesh in Jesus’ name

2 Timothy 3:1-5

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
