Night of Divine Encounter (NODE) 10th Edition, Day 4 - Praying Against Storms In Marriages - Join us on Friday, May 6th, 2022 for the Night of Divine Encounter between 7pm to 10pm MST. Theme- The Storm Is Over
Praying Against Storms In Marriages
Today, we will be praying against storms in marriages. Many marriages today are turbulent with constant misunderstanding, in-fighting, ungodly children, fracas in extended family, and lack of trust among couples. Many homes are in disarray because of these storms in their marriages. The rate of divorce is higher. According to an article published in ‘Toronto Sun” by Jane Stevenson in January 17, 2021, she said that, “Canada has the 29th highest divorce rate out of 87 countries based on a survey. One out of every 309 adults are divorced.” For a man to divorce his wife or vice versa, it shows that something is not going on well in the marriage. We can pray to God to intervene in stormy marriages.
Unfaithfulness in marriages Could Lead To Stormy Marriages
Another challenge in marriages is unfaithfulness and God frowns at it. Malachi 2:15-16 says, “Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth. “The man who hates and divorces his wife,” says the Lord, the God of Israel, “does violence to the one he should protect,” says the Lord Almighty. “So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful.”
Marriage should be triangular in nature with God at the top and the husband and wife at the bases. We must honor God in our relationship and allow Him to be at the center. The first institution that Satan attacked was marriage. He altered the relationship between man and God. Husband and wife must fellowship with each other and ultimately, they must not lose their fellowship with God. A home is not complete without an altar. We must have a family altar where we call upon God on a daily basis. Husband and wife must set aside some time to also pray to God.
Divided Home Could Be Source of Storms in Marriages
In the story of Isaac and Rebecca, the home was divided. The father wanted to bless Esau while the mother was in favor of Jacob. There was deceit between Rebecca and Isaac. Rebecca even taught his son how to deceive his father, There was infighting between the two brothers, Esau and Jacob. Jacob took the blessings of his brother and the whole home was in disarray.
Also in Jacob’s home, the father-in-law deceived him by giving him the wrong woman, Leah. There is a constant rivalry in the home front thereafter between Leah and Rachel. Jacob’s marriage was a marriage full of storms. In Elkanah’s home, there was also constant rivalry between the two wives, Peninnah and Hannah. Peninnah was always taunting Hannah when she had no child. Elkanah had to be consoling Hannah just to make her comfortable in the marriage. God eventually answered Hannah and gave her many children and that include Samuel the prophet.
Pray for a peaceful home
We need to pray that the devil will not have his way in our home and that there will be no crack for Satan to penetrate. The home of Adam and Eve was sweet until Satan crept in through Eve. Abraham and Sarah were also living fine trusting in God for the promised child. A suggestion from Sarah to Abraham to sleep with Hagar started the storm in the marriage. Definitely, Sarah’s inspiration for that suggestion did not emanate from God but from the devil. David also invited storm into his home when he slept with Beersheba and killed Uriah, her husband. Wherever the source of the storm in your marriage today, we will be praying against storms in marriages and the storm shall be over in Jesus’ name.

5 Now Rebekah was listening as Isaac spoke to his son Esau. When Esau left for the open country to hunt game and bring it back, 6 Rebekah said to her son Jacob, “Look, I overheard your father say to your brother Esau, 7 ‘Bring me some game and prepare me some tasty food to eat, so that I may give you my blessing in the presence of the Lord before I die.’ 8 Now, my son, listen carefully and do what I tell you: 9 Go out to the flock and bring me two choice young goats, so I can prepare some tasty food for your father, just the way he likes it. 10 Then take it to your father to eat, so that he may give you his blessing before he dies.”

14 So he went and got them and brought them to his mother, and she prepared some tasty food, just the way his father liked it. 15 Then Rebekah took the best clothes of Esau, her older son, which she had in the house, and put them on her younger son Jacob. 16 She also covered his hands and the smooth part of his neck with the goatskins. 17 Then she handed to her son Jacob the tasty food and the bread she had made.

There was a certain man from Ramathaim, a Zuphite from the hill country of Ephraim, whose name was Elkanah son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite. 2 He had two wives; one was called Hannah and the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had none.
3 Year after year this man went up from his town to worship and sacrifice to the Lord Almighty at Shiloh, where Hophni and Phinehas, the two sons of Eli, were priests of the Lord. 4 Whenever the day came for Elkanah to sacrifice, he would give portions of the meat to his wife Peninnah and to all her sons and daughters. 5 But to Hannah he gave a double portion because he loved her, and the Lord had closed her womb. 6 Because the Lord had closed Hannah’s womb, her rival kept provoking her in order to irritate her. 7 This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the Lord, her rival provoked her till she wept and would not eat
13. Father, I pray that you will take away every reproach in my marriage in Jesus’ name. Lord, please meet me at the point of my needs just like you attended to Hannah’s needs in Jesus’ name
1 Samuel 1:9-11
Once when they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh, Hannah stood up. Now Eli the priest was sitting on his chair by the doorpost of the Lord’s house. 10 In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly. 11 And she made a vow, saying, “Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.”
14. Father, I pray that your peace will reign in my marriage and you will grant me all my heart desires in Jesus’ name

Eli answered, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.”
18 She said, “May your servant find favor in your eyes.” Then she went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast.
19 Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the Lord and then went back to their home at Ramah. Elkanah made love to his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her. 20 So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, “Because I asked the Lord for him.”

John 2:1-10
On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples. 3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” 4 And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
6 Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.[a] 7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it. 9 When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.
