Pray That You Will Live for God’s Glory
Living for God’s Glory: The Ultimate Purpose of Life
Today, we will be praying for the grace to live for God’s glory. Glory is a term that signifies honor, praise, majesty, splendor, or great beauty and magnificence. It can refer to the manifested presence of God, the recognition of His greatness, or human expressions of worship and reverence toward Him.
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
— 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)
What Does It Mean to Live for God’s Glory?
To live for God’s glory means to make Him known, to reflect His nature, and to exalt Him in everything we do. It is recognizing that life is not primarily about us—our comfort, success, or ambitions—but about God’s eternal purposes and plans. When our lives point people to God, we fulfill our ultimate purpose.
We Were Created for His Glory
“Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
— Isaiah 43:7 (NIV)
Human beings are not the product of random chance; we were intentionally created by God to display His glory. Just as a masterpiece reflects the genius of its artist, our lives are meant to reflect the splendor and greatness of our Creator.
Jesus is the Perfect Model of Living for God’s Glory
“I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.”
— John 17:4 (NIV)
Jesus Christ lived with singular focus—to glorify His Father. His obedience, humility, compassion, and mission to save humanity all served to make the Father known. If we follow Christ, our lives must also reflect His character and purposes.
Living for God’s Glory in Daily Life
Glorifying God is not limited to Sunday worship or spiritual activities. It touches every area of life:
- In our work: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…” (Colossians 3:23 NIV)
- In our relationships: Love, forgive, and serve others to reflect God’s grace.
- In our speech: Use words to uplift, not tear down.
- In our bodies: “Honor God with your bodies.” (1 Corinthians 6:20 NIV)
- In trials: Trusting God in hard times brings Him great glory.
Living for God’s Glory Leads to Fulfillment
“Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
— Psalm 37:4 (NIV)
There’s a joy that comes from living for something greater than yourself. While the world chases fame and success, those who live for God’s glory find true peace, joy, and eternal reward.
Our Ultimate Goal: His Glory for Eternity
“To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
— Ephesians 3:21 (NIV)
One day, we will stand before God and give account of how we lived. Those who live for His glory on earth will rejoice in His presence forever.
Conclusion: A Life That Shines for Him
The call to live for God’s glory is not a burden—it’s a blessing. It’s a call to align your life with the divine, to walk in God’s Purpose, and to make your days count for eternity. Start today by surrendering your life fully to Him, and let every thought, word, and action echo this one desire: “Lord, be glorified in me.”
