Praying For God’s Grace Part 2
Day 39: 40 DAYS PRAYER, FASTING AND WORSHIP FEB 3rd to MARCH 14th, 2021. 2021, A YEAR OF NEW BEGINNING - ISAIAH 43:17-19.
Short Exhortation About God’s Grace
Have you ever felt unworthy of God’s grace? Our God is full of mercy and grace and He has the capacity to cleanse you no matter how dirty you are. We all need God’s grace, because by strength shall no man prevail. 1 Samuel 2:9 says, “He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.” When you have tried your best and used up all your strength and yet things seem not to be working, grace can take over from where your strength has failed.
Grace has the capacity to help you in starting your race, in running the race and in finishing the race. Not all those who start well finish well. Demas started well but didn’t finish well. 2 Timothy 4:10 says, “For Demas, because he loved this world, has deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.” The love of the world was Demas major setback. Judas started well but did not end well due to greed and love of money. He was among the seventy-two who healed the sick and cast out demons in Luke 10:1-20. However, he committed suicide eventually and ended badly because he was unable to tame his appetite for greed and stealing (Matthew 27:3-5).
Moses started the journey to the land of Canaan but he was unable to make it (Deuteronomy 1:37). Many of the children of Israel who left Egypt died in the wilderness. Moses pleaded for them several times while they were constantly disobeying God so that God will not destroy them. However, their constant sin against God got to the climax and those who were twenty years upward when they left Egypt did not make it to Canaan except Joshua and Caleb (Numbers 14:29). To start a race is important but it is not as important as finishing the race. So we all need to pray for the grace to finish well. We need the grace to endure to the end so that we can be saved (Matthew 24:13).
Apostle Paul started well and ended well. In 2 Timothy 4:7-8, Apostle Paul said, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.” Jesus who is the Author and the Finisher of our faith also finished well. He went through many trials and temptations but that did not deter him from finishing well. At the cross, Jesus said that it is finished (John 19:28-30). We also need the grace to run this race lawfully until we reach the finish line. So we are going to be praying today for the grace to finish well.

At the end of our sojourn on earth, we pray for the grace to confidently say “It is finished” just like you said on the cross in Jesus’ name
John 19:28-30
“After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.”
