Praying For The Gift Of Men Part 3

Day 22: 40 DAYS PRAYER, FASTING AND WORSHIP FEB 3rd to MARCH 14th, 2021.  2021, A YEAR OF NEW BEGINNING - ISAIAH 43:17-19

Short Exhortation About The Gift Of Men

For you to have a good reward for your labour, you need the gift of men. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 says, Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and man (Luke 2:52). Samuel also grew in stature and in favour with the Lord and with people (1 Samuel 2:26). This is to tell us that, although, God has a major role to play in our lives, men also have major roles to play in our lives.

You also need to be careful about the caliber of people you allow in your ship. Jonah was on the ship to Tarshish and there was a serious problem. There was a great storm, they lost all their cargo because of Jonah, and until they threw Jonah into the sea, the storm did not cease (Jonah 1:1-16). One would have thought that having a man of God in the ship would keep the ship safe, but Jonah was acting in disobedience to God and gave everyone in the ship a lot of trouble. However, when Jesus was inside the boat and there was a great storm in the book of  Mark 4:38-40, Jesus commanded the storm to be calm and there was calmness.

So, you have to be careful about the caliber of people you allow into your ship. This ship could be friendship, fellowship, followership, membership, stewardship, discipleship, leadership, courtship, worship, relationship or mentorship. As you pray for the gift of men, you have to pray to God to give you the right set of people in your ship.

Prayer Points About The Gift Of Men

1. Father, give me the gift of men who can support me so that I will not fall. Lord send men to me who will add great value to my life in Jesus’ name

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! 11 Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? 12 And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

2. Lord, give me the gift of men. Father, send me men that will give me the ability to witness exponential increase in Jesus’ name.

Deuteronomy 32:30

“How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had shut them up?”

3. Father, just like Jesus grew in wisdom, in stature, and in favour with God and man, let me also grow in favour with God and man in Jesus’ name. Samuel also grew in stature and in favour with God and man, Lord, let me grow in favour with God and man in Jesus’ name. Father, give me the gift of men.

Luke 2:52

“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”

1 Samuel 2:26

“And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the LORD and with people.”

4. Lord, bless me with men like Joseph of Arimathea. He gave Jesus a befitting burial and was still loyal to Jesus at death. God, send me such men as destiny helpers in Jesus’ name. Lord, bless me with the gift of men.

John 19:38-42

“Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away. 39 He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds. 40 Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs. 41 At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. 42 Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.”

5. Lord, you used Mordecai to save king Xerxex from death when Teresh and Bigthana plotted against him, Father, bless me with men like Mordecai who will be loyal and shield me from evil people in Jesus’ name. God, bless me with the gift of men in Jesus’ name.

Esther 2:19-23

“When the virgins were assembled a second time, Mordecai was sitting at the king’s gate. 20 But Esther had kept secret her family background and nationality just as Mordecai had told her to do, for she continued to follow Mordecai’s instructions as she had done when he was bringing her up.

21 During the time Mordecai was sitting at the king’s gate, Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s officers who guarded the doorway, became angry and conspired to assassinate King Xerxes. 22 But Mordecai found out about the plot and told Queen Esther, who in turn reported it to the king, giving credit to Mordecai. 23 And when the report was investigated and found to be true, the two officials were impaled on poles. All this was recorded in the book of the annals in the presence of the king.”

6. God, just like you gave Esther favour before king Ahasuerus and you used the king to reverse the death penalty on Mordecai, bless me with the gift of men. Raise men that will counter all the plans of the enemy over my life in Jesus’ name. Give me men that will promote me in Jesus’ name

Esther 8:1-8

“On that day King Ahasuerus gave the house of Haman, the enemy of the Jews, to Queen Esther; and Mordecai came before the king, because Esther had disclosed what he was to her. 2 Then the king took off his signet ring, which he had taken away from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman. 3 Then Esther spoke again to the king, fell at his feet, wept, and pleaded for his compassion to avert the evil scheme of Haman the Agagite and his plot which he had devised against the Jews. 4 And the king extended the golden scepter to Esther. So Esther got up and stood before the king.

5 Then she said, “If it pleases the king and if I have found favor before him, and the matter seems proper to the king and I am pleasing in his sight, let it be written to revoke the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to eliminate the Jews who are in all the king’s provinces. 6 For how can I endure to see the disaster which will happen to my people, and how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?”

7 So King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, “Behold, I have given the house of Haman to Esther, and they have hanged him on the wooden gallows because he had reached out with his hand against the Jews. 8 Now you write to the Jews [b]as you see fit, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s signet ring; for a decree which is written in the name of the king and sealed with the king’s signet ring may not be revoked.”

7. Father, I pray that you will give me the right people in my ministry and in my business in Jesus’ name. Lord, give the right people in my ship.

Mark 4:38-40

“38 Jesus was inside the boat, sleeping with his head on a pillow. The followers went and woke him. They said, “Teacher, don’t you care about us? We are going to drown!” 39 Jesus stood up and gave a command to the wind and the water. He said, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind stopped, and the lake became calm. 40 He said to his followers, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

8. Lord, I pray that you will remove men like Jonah from my ship in Jesus’ name. Bless me with the gift of right men. Bless me with men that will be a blessing and not men that will cause a storm in my ship in Jesus’ name

Jonah 1:1-5

“The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: 2 “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.”

3 But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.

4 Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up. 5 All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship. But Jonah had gone below deck, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep”

Jonah 1:6-16

So the captain came to him, and said to him, “What do you mean, sleeper? Arise, call on your God; perhaps your God will consider us, so that we may not perish.” 7 And they said to one another, “Come, let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this trouble has come upon us.” So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah. 8 Then they said to him, “Please tell us! For whose cause is this trouble upon us? What is your occupation? And where do you come from? What is your country? And of what people are you?”

9 So he said to them, “I am a Hebrew; and I fear the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land. 10 Then the men were exceedingly afraid, and said to him, “Why have you done this?” For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the Lord, because he had told them. 11 Then they said to him, “What shall we do to you that the sea may be calm for us?”—for the sea was growing more tempestuous. 12 And he said to them, “Pick me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great tempest is because of me.”

13 Nevertheless the men rowed hard to return to land, but they could not, for the sea continued to grow more tempestuous against them. 14 Therefore they cried out to the Lord and said, “We pray, O Lord, please do not let us perish for this man’s life, and do not charge us with innocent blood; for You, O Lord, have done as it pleased You.” 15 So they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging. 16 Then the men feared the Lord exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice to the Lord and took vows.”

9. God, I pray that you will bless me with men like Paul in my ministry and in my organization in Jesus’ name. Lord, bless me with men that will perceive disaster on time and proffer solutions on how to avoid it in Jesus’ name.

Acts 27:10-11

“Men, I can see that our voyage is going to be disastrous and bring great loss to ship and cargo, and to our own lives also.” But the centurion, instead of listening to what Paul said, followed the advice of the pilot and of the owner of the ship.”
