Praying for the Prophetic in the Body of Christ
Today, we will pray for the prophetic in the body of Christ. The prophets are some of the gifts that God gave to the body of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-12 (NIV) says, “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. Also, the scripture says that we should follow the way of love and to eagerly desire the gifts of prophecy. We need prophets in the body of Christ. God normally reveals His mind to His prophets. We need those who can operate in the prophetic in the body of Christ. This will enhance a free flow of divine revelation among the believers.
Prophecy has the capacity to strengthen, encourage and comfort. 1 Corinthians 14:3 (NKJV) says, “But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.” Jesus Christ is the head of the Church and His birth was prophetic. The names of Jesus Christ had been prophesied long before He was born. Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV) says, For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder, and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” All these names of Jesus Christ came through prophecy.
Prophecy and Its Role in the Life and Mission of Jesus
The acts of Jesus Christ and all the miracles He did on earth were fulfillment of prophecy. His birth, his death and His resurrection were all fulfillment of prophecy. Even, Jesus Christ’s second coming and His millennial reign will be a fulfillment that many prophets have prophesied about Him. This means that the body of Christ need to operate by the prophetic.
God prophesied about the birth of Jesus Christ when he talked about the seed of the woman. Genesis 3:15 (NKJV) says, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” This verse, often referred to as the Protoevangelium (meaning “first gospel”), is considered the first prophecy about the coming of Jesus Christ. It foretells the eventual defeat of Satan (the serpent) by the “Seed” of the woman. The believers interpret this as a reference to Jesus.
Moses also prophesied about Jesus when he said that God will raise a greater prophet that will deliver his people. The prophecy by Moses about the coming of a greater prophet which refers to Jesus Christ, is found in Deuteronomy 18:15 (NKJV). This scripture says, “The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear.” This prophecy foretells the coming of a prophet greater than Moses. Jesus is the fulfillment of this prophesy as we realize In the New Testament. He is the ultimate prophet and deliverer of God’s people. Acts 3:22 and Acts 7:37 confirmed this. Peter and Stephen referenced that this prophecy as being fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
The Outpouring of the Spirit: Prophecy and Spiritual Gifts in Action
The birth of John the baptist was a fulfillment of prophecy. In like fashion, the birth of Samson was as a fulfillment of prophecy. No wonder, God said that we should desire the gift of prophecy in the body of Christ. The gifts from God can come as a result of the prophetic. 1 Timothy 4:14 (NIV) says, “Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you.” You can receive some spiritual gifts right now through the prophetic.
God had promised us to pour His Spirit upon all flesh. The outpouring of the Spirit comes with the gift of prophecy. Additionally, it comes with the gifts of prophetic dreams and prophetic visions. As a matter of fact, the gifts of the Spirit came as a result of the outpouring of the Spirit of God as prophesied by Joel. This shows how important the gift of prophecy is in the body of Christ. As we pray today, I pray that the body of Christ will start operating in the prophetic in a greater dimension in Jesus’ name.

- Father, I pray for a great manifestation of the prophetic gift in the body of Christ. Lord, I pray that you will give us the grace to follow the way of love and to eagerly desire the gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.

2. Father, I pray that you will give me the grace to start operating in the prophetic. Lord, I pray for all the genuine prophets in the body of Christ that they will have a clear revelation in Jesus’ name
Amos 3:7 (NIV)
“Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.”
3. Father, I pray that the gift of prophecy will start manifesting in a greater dimension in Bethel Kingdom City Church and in the body of Christ in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that you will edify, and comfort the body of Christ through the gift of prophecy.

4. Father, I thank you for giving the body of Christ the gifts of apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and the teachers to equip the Church for works of service. I pray that you give more gifts of prophets to the body of Christ so that the Church can be built up in Jesus’ name.

5. Father, I pray that you will give me the grace not to treat prophecies with contempt but to test them all and hold on to what is good. Lord, I pray that the body of Christ will start operating in the prophetic in a greater dimension in Jesus’ name.
1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 (NIV)
“Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good.”
Seeking Prophetic Activation in the Body of Christ
6. Father, I pray that you will pour your Spirit on all people in these last days. Lord, I pray that our sons and our daughters will start prophesying. I pray that our young men will start seeing visions. Father, I pray that our old men will start dreaming dreams. Lord, I pray that there will be the outpouring of your Spirit in the body of Christ and we will start operating in the prophetic in a new dimension in Jesus’ name.
Acts 2:17-18 (NIV)
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.”
7. Father, I pray that there will be a distribution of different gifts written in your Word in the body of Christ. Lord, I pray that you will increase your grace upon us in Bethel Kingdom City Church and enlarge our capacity to operate in the gift of prophecy in Jesus’ name.
Romans 12:6 (NIV)
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith.”
8. Father, I pray that we will start operating in the prophetic in the body of Christ. Lord, I pray that in Bethel Kingdom City Church, you will give us the gifts of the Spirit such as miraculous powers, prophecy, distinguishing between spirits, speaking in different kinds of tongues and the gift of interpretation of tongues.

“To another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.”
9. Father, I pray that you will give me the grace not to neglect the gift you have given to me through prophecy. Lord, I pray that your anointing will rest upon me and I also pray that the body of Christ will start manifesting mightily in the prophetic in Jesus’ name.

10. Father, I pray that you will raise great and mighty prophets in the body of Christ who will speak from God as they are carried along by the Holy Spirit. Lord, I pray that the prophets in the body of Christ will not speak with words originating from human will in Jesus’ name.
2 Peter 1:21 (NIV)
“For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”
Praying for the Prophetic Flow in the Assembly of Believers
11. Father, I pray that you will raise great prophets and teachers in the body of Christ in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that in Bethel Kingdom City Church, you will release your prophetic words promptly and accurately in Jesus’ name.
Acts 13:1-2 (NIV)
“Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.'”
12. Father, I pray that the gift of prophecy will increase in the body of Christ in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that we will start operating in the prophetic in a greater dimension in Bethel Kingdom City Church in Jesus’ name

“Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.”
13. Father, I pray that you will raise great and mighty prophets among us in the body of Christ and also in Bethel Kingdom City Church. Lord, I pray that you will raise prophets who will speak the mind of God accurately in Jesus’ name.
Acts 21:10-11 (NIV)
“After we had been there a number of days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. Coming over to us, he took Paul’s belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, ‘The Holy Spirit says: In this way the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.'”
14. Father, I pray that there will be the Spirit of prophecy in the body of Christ in Jesus’ name. Father, I pray that you will raise witnesses all over the world who will share the gospel of Jesus Christ in every nook and cranny of the world until all men are saved in Jesus’ name.
Revelation 19:10 (NIV)
“At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, ‘Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.'”
