Thank God for giving you rest in ministry
Thank God for giving you rest in ministry

Today, we will thank God for giving us rest in ministry. This year, we will begin to operate from the position of rest in the assignment that God has committed into our hands. Peter operated in the position of rest in ministry. After the disciples had waited at the upper room, they were baptized with the Holy Spirit. Many crowds gathered after the arrival of the Holy Spirit because they heard a sound. They came from many nations.
The first church did not need to do publicity in the radio or television station to gather the crowd. They did not use print media, electronic media or digital media for their publicity. All the crowd were invited because of the arrival of the Holy Spirit. That was a first sign of rest in ministry. When you don’t need to do much publicity to gather the crowd for them to listen to the Word of God.
On the day of Pentecost after the arrival of the Holy Spirit, Peter came out and preached the gospel to the crowd. He preached with boldness under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. At the end of that sermon, five thousand people gave their lives to Jesus Christ. Those who started the church in the upper room were just one hundred and twenty. The church grew from one hundred and twenty to five thousand, one hundred and twenty in a day. That was another sign of rest in ministry. To grow a church to that extent should have required a lot of time, energy and resources. However, God helped Peter to achieve that through just one sermon.
God Gave Peter Rest In Ministry
Later as the Apostles continued with their assignment, God started using Peter and the other Apostles to heal several people who were sick. The shadow of Peter started healing the sick and delivering those who have unclean spirits. Many spend hours to conduct deliverance these days. However, Peter’s shadow was conducting deliverance and healing the sick. That is another sign of rest in ministry.
God Gave Peter Rest In Ministry
The church grew exponentially under Peter. At one point, the scriptures say that multitudes were added to the church. The angels were helping them in the work of evangelism. When Cornelius was going to be saved, God had to send an angel to him who told him to reach out to Peter. God also gave Peter a revelation that he should go and preach to Cornelius not minding that he was a Gentile. After Peter’s message, Cornelius and his household became part of the Church. They were baptized that very day. When angels start doing evangelism on your behalf, that is a form of rest in ministry.
Time will not permit me to talk about so many others who had rest in ministry. However, I will mention the case of Apostle Paul whose handkerchiefs or aprons were healing people and conducting deliverance from evil spirits. Like I mentioned earlier, many people spend hours today casting out demons. When your handkerchiefs or aprons start casting out demons and healing the sick on your behalf, that is a form of rest in ministry. Jesus also did not need to speak to the woman with the flow of blood before she received her healing. The moment she touched the hem of Jesus’ garment, the flow of blood stopped. As we thank God today, He will give us rest in ministry in Jesus’ name.

Luke 8:26-33 (NKJV)
Then they sailed to the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee. 27 And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before Him, and with a loud voice said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me!” 29 For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had often seized him, and he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles; and he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.
30 Jesus asked him, saying, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him. 31 And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss. 32 Now a herd of many swine was feeding there on the mountain. So they begged Him that He would permit them to enter them. And He permitted them. 33 Then the demons went out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the lake and drowned

8. Father, I thank you for giving me rest in my ministry. Lord, I pray that any time I preach your Word, thousands of souls shall be added to your kingdom in Jesus’ name.
