Praying That You Will Soar on Wings Like Eagles

Today, we will be praying that we will soar on wings like eagles. The Bible teaches us that we, as believers, can possess the characteristics of an eagle. What are the characteristics of an eagle?  The eagle relies on a wind current to soar thereby conserving its energy. We can also conserve our energy by allowing God to direct our path. Just like the eagle uses wind currents to determine his flight path, we can allow the Holy Spirit to direct our path as we acknowledge God in all our ways.

The wind can be likened to the Holy Spirit. On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came to where the disciples gathered like a mighty rushing wind. Also, when God told Prophet Ezekiel to prophesy upon the dry bones, it was the wind of the Holy Spirit that blew upon the dry bones before they became a mighty army. Also, before a man became a living soul, God had to breathe His breath of life into man. We also have to constantly depend on the Holy Spirit for direction. Without the oxygen there will be no living things, which shows the importance of the air. So, also, without the Holy Spirit we can not live spiritually. We have to depend on the wind of the Holy Spirit for our flight.

Don’t Fly on Your Own Strength

When you flap your wings instead of soaring like the eagles, you will be using up so much strength. You can instead stretch out your wings and soar with a minimum effort, while allowing God to take you to heights greater than you could ever achieve on your own. Don’t fly on your own strength, but rely on God’s strength for your flight.

God bore the Israelites on the eagles’ wings and delivered them from the Egyptians. Exodus 19:4 says, “You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.” What does this mean? According to Benson commentary, it is a high expression of the wonderful tenderness God showed for the Israelites. It denotes great speed. God acted against Egypt to release the Israelites from slavery. He brought them out smoothly and powerfully, and He did this to bring them to himself.

The Benefits of Soaring On Wings Like Eagles

There are benefits of soaring on wings like eagles. Deuteronomy 32:11-14 talked about some of these benefits. It says, “As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings, So the Lord alone led him, and there was no foreign god with him.  “He made him ride in the heights of the earth, that he might eat the produce of the fields; He made him draw honey from the rock, and oil from the flinty rock;  Curds from the cattle, and milk of the flock, with fat of lambs; And rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the choicest wheat; And you drank wine, the blood of the grapes.”

In the Bible passage above, we realize that an eagle stirs up its nest and hovers over its young. It will spread out its wings, taking them up, and carrying them on its wings. That scriptures says that is the same way God led the Israeites. This reveals God’s protection and how God cares for us as His children. The scripture says that God is our refuge and strength. He is a very present help in the time of needs (Psalm 46:1). Also, Psalm 91:1-2 says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.””

God Is Lifting You High

In Deuteronomy 32:11-14, we realized that God made the Israelites ride in the heights of the earth, that they might eat the produce of the fields. God made them draw honey from the rock, and oil from the flinty rock. He gave them Curds from the cattle, and milk of the flock, with fat from lambs. God gave them rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the choicest wheat. He made them drink wine and the blood of the grapes. There is abundant provision when you begin to soar on the eagles’ wings. As we pray today and begin to soar on eagles’ wings, I pray that there will be abundant provision for us in Jesus’ name.
