Praying Against The Works Of The Flesh
Day 11: 40 DAYS PRAYER, FASTING AND WORSHIP FEB 3rd to MARCH 14th, 2021. 2021, A YEAR OF NEW BEGINNING - ISAIAH 43:17-19
Short Exhortation About The Works Of The Flesh:
In this Christian race, the flesh is our number one enemy. The main goal of the flesh is to draw us away from Christ. He loves to control us and wants to ensure that we do what is contrary to the will of God. According to Galatians 5:19-21, his works are evident, “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Apostle Paul listed here some of the works of the flesh and he ended the list by saying “and such like” meaning the list still continues.
Most of the time, we fast and pray against the enemies meanwhile our major enemy is the flesh. The devil needs a loophole to capitalize on to penetrate or attack us and once there is none, we are covered. Just like Balaam could not curse the Israelites when their ways were right with God, the devil can not defeat us. Jesus Christ said in John 14:30 that, “The ruler of this world is coming and he has no claim on me.” Once the devil has no claim on us, he can never harm us. So, if I were you, if there is one enemy that I will fight until it is completely defeated, it will be the internal enemy, the flesh, and not just the external. If the flesh is completely defeated no devil can defeat you. All the things that we pray for most of the time are actually the fringe benefits when we seek the kingdom of God and its righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Today, we will be praying against the manifestation of the works of the flesh in our lives, so that we can live a life that is pleasing to God. The best way to deal with the works of the flesh is to deal with it from the root by crucifying the flesh and its lust and start walking in the Spirit. (Galatians 5:16-18 &24).

Prayer Points Against The Works Of The Flesh
1. Let us thank God for translating us from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son Jesus Christ
Colossians 1:13
“For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son”
2. Lord, I pray that you will deliver me from all the works of the flesh in Jesus’ name. Father, we pray that you will deliver the Church from every work of the flesh in Jesus’ name. We destroy the manifestation of the work of the flesh in every member of BKCC in Jesus’ name
Galatians 5:19-21
“His works are evident, “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God”
3. Lord, I pray against every spirit of condemnation in Jesus’ name. I come against every spirit that wants to lead me to do what is evil in Jesus’ name. Jesus Christ has become a sin offering for me so that I can completely overcome the flesh. As from now on, I will constantly live my life free of condemnation in Jesus’ name. I will no longer walk after the flesh in Jesus’ name. I pray that I will not be carnally minded but be spiritually minded in Jesus’ name.
Romans 7:18-25
“For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.”
Romans 8:1-14
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
4. Lord, I pray for the grace to walk by the Spirit in Jesus’ name. I pray that I will not gratify the desires of the flesh in Jesus’ name. I pray against the works of the flesh in Jesus’ name.
Galatians 5:16-18
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law
1 Peter 4:3
For the time past of [our] life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
5. Lord. I pray that you will purify my heart. And cleanse me from every form of evil thoughts that leads to sin in Jesus’ name. I pray that I will not be defiled by my thoughts in Jesus’ name. I pray that I will start thinking on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy in Jesus’ name
Mark 7:21-23
“For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
Philippians 4:8
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”
6. Lord, I pray that I will retain the knowledge of God in Jesus’ name. I pray that I will not be given over to sinful desires in the name of Jesus. We come against every form of depravity in our society in Jesus’ name. We pray against every form of depravity in the Church of God in Jesus’ name. We destroy every work of the flesh in Jesus’ name
Romans 1:24-32
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
7. Father, I pray that every form of friendship with the world that is leading me to sin against you will be destroyed in Jesus’ name. As from now on, I receive the grace to separate myself from the world and I will align with you in Jesus’ name. We pray also for the Church and destroy every form of friendship with the world in Jesus’ name.
James 4:4-17
You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you-who are you to judge your neighbor? Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.
8. Father, I get rid of the works of the flesh in Jesus’ name. I terminate all the activities of the son of the bond woman in Jesus’ name. As from now on, I am free from the laws of sin and death in Jesus’ name. I crucify the flesh in Jesus’ name and as from now on, I am alive to righteousness in the name of Jesus.
Galatians 4:21-31
“21 Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you not aware of what the law says? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. 23 His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise.
24 These things are being taken figuratively: The women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. 25 Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. 26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother. 27 For it is written:
“Be glad, barren woman, you who never bore a child; shout for joy and cry aloud, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband.”
28 Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise. 29 At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. 30 But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.” 31 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.”
Romans 6:5
knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin
Galatians 5:24
Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires
Colossians 3:5
Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.
