Pray For The Grace To Put Your Body Under Subjection

Pray For The Grace To Put Your Body Under Subjection

Today, we will be praying for the grace to put our body under subjection. The desire of the flesh is contrary to that of the Spirit. The flesh always tries to contend against the Spirit and he tries to rule over us. In any case, God wants us to  submit to the Holy Spirit and to be controlled by the Holy Spirit. Self-control is one of the fruits of the Spirit. Good deeds do not dwell in the sinful nature. The flesh prevents you from carrying out the good deeds which you are willing to do. So, one of the ways to contend for the faith is to put the body under subjection so that you will not be disqualified after running the race.

The Spirit of God gives us the grace to be self-disciplined. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” This shows that the Holy Spirit can empower us to put our body under subjection. The Spirit of God is always available to help us when we go through temptations. He will provide a way out so that the temptation will not overcome or subdue us. The Spirit of God can deliver us from an ungodly appetite for food. He can deliver us from addictions to ungodly habits.

The Grace To Say No To Ungodliness

There is a grace to say no to ungodliness and to the passion of the world.  Titus 2:11-12 says, “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.” There is a grace to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives. When you receive this grace, you will be able to put your body under subjection and exercise your dominion over the flesh.

An athlete can never obtain the prize that is set ahead of him until he runs and competes lawfully. Competition comes with strict training. You must have self-control and you must be able to discipline your body. 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 says, “Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” As believers, we are also running our spiritual race. This requires self-control and spiritual discipline. For you to obtain the everlasting crown, you must run the race lawfully by putting your body under subjection. I pray that God will give us the grace to put our body under subjection in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Points

  1. Father, I pray for the grace to put my body under subjection. I pray that all these fruits of the Spirit such as love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control will start manifesting in my life in Jesus’ name.

2 Peter 1:5-8

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

5. Father, I pray that you will deliver me from the spirit of timidity. Lord, give me the Spirit of power, love and self-discipline in Jesus’ name. I pray that you will give me the grace to put my body under subjection

6. Father, I pray that you will deliver me from all forms of temptations that are common to mankind. Lord, I pray that whenever I am tempted, you will provide a way out so that I can endure it. I pray that I will not be tempted more than I can bear in Jesus’ name.

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

9. Father, I pray for the grace to run my race lawfully by undergoing the strict training that it requires. Lord, give me the grace to get the everlasting crown after my sojourn on earth. I pray for the grace to put my body under subjection so that I will not loose my crown in Jesus’ name

1 Corinthians 9:24-25

Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
