Pray For The Grace To Serve God Passionately

Pray For The Grace To Serve God Passionately

Today, we will be praying for the grace to serve God passionately.  God expects us to serve Him only. Matthew 6:24 says, “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.”  It is impossible to be devoted to two masters. In this scripture, we realize that it is possible to serve wealth. It can debar you from serving God.  Jesus told that rich young man to go and sell all his possessions and follow him, but he went away sorrowfully. He chose his wealth over Jesus.

Benefits Of Serving God

Our service to God has some benefits. When you serve God, He promised to bless your bread and water and take sickness out of your midst. Exodus 23:25 says, “But you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water; and I will remove sickness from your midst.” This shows that your business will be blessed when you serve God. Many are serving sickness today because they have refused to serve God. The truth is that you can not sit on the fence. If you refuse to serve God you will serve the enemies.

Deuteronomy 28:47-48

“Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness and gladness of heart, because of the abundance of all things, 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you, in hunger and thirst, in nakedness, and lacking everything. And he will put a yoke of iron on your neck until he has destroyed you.”

Don’t serve God for ulterior motives. Serve Him out of your love for Him. That is the kind of service that has rewards from God. Some serve so as to get some positions in the Church while some serve to make connections. We also have some others who serve just to please men. However, Colossians 2:23 says, “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.” Also, Ephesians 6:7 says, “With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men.” You will lose your rewards if your service is unto men. God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. So, definitely, God will ultimately reward you.

There Is A Reward For Serving God

Revelation 22:12 says, “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.” This shows that God is going to reward us when we get to heaven. However, our rewards are not limited to heaven. Jesus told His disciples who had left everything and followed Him that they will be rewarded here on earth and also in heaven. Matthew 19:29 says, “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.” This shows that your service to the Lord is not in vain. You have some rewards on earth and also in heaven.

When you seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, God will add some other things unto you. He told us not to worry about what we are going to eat, where we are going to live or what we are going to wear. They are all fringe benefits to all those who serve God passionately. As we pray today, I pray that God will give us the grace to serve God passionately in Jesus’ name.
