Pray For The Grace To Keep Your Marriage Covenant

Pray For The Grace To Keep Your Marriage Covenant

Today, we will pray for the grace to keep our marriage covenant. In our world today, there is a serious attack on the marriage institution. The rate of divorce in marriage is on the rise. However, despite all these challenges, God can give you the grace to keep your marriage covenant. The devil attacked the first marriage institution in the garden of Eden and he has not stopped attacking the marriage institution. In any case, God has the ability to give you victory over all the subtlety of the devil over your marriage.

The Sacred Covenant: Loving and Submitting in Marriage as Christ Commands

God expects the man to love his wife as Christ loves the Church. Jesus laid down His life for the Church because He loves the Church. He was humiliated, persecuted and crucified because of His love for the Church, for a sin He never committed. This shows that if a man must love his wife as Christ loves the Church, a man must be ready to lay down his life for his wife. This is the major marriage covenant which a man must pray for the grace to keep.

As a man, your love for your wife must be unconditional. Jesus laid down His life for us even when we were yet sinners and disobedient to God. He died for us not because we were righteous, but because we were sinners. As a man, you don’t love your wife simply because she is nice or well behaved. However, you must love your wife because God commanded it.

The scriptures also command the wives to submit to their husbands in everything. Also, this is an unconditional command from God to the women. You don’t submit to your husband only because he is nice or good or well behaved. You submit to your husband because God commanded it. The will of God is superior to your will and you need to submit your will to God’s will. Keeping your marriage covenant requires resilience and determination to make your marriage work. You have a part to play and the areas where you don’t have control over, you can commit such into God’s hands. God can give you the grace to keep your marriage covenant.

Faithfulness in Marriage: The Key to Unhindered Prayers

Your prayers can be hindered if you don’t keep your marriage covenant. The book of Malachi 2:14-16 shows that the Lord is a witness between a man and the wife of his youth. When a man is unfaithful to his partner, that attitude can hinder his prayers. This scripture says that a man who hates and divorces his wife does violence to the one he should protect. Therefore, as a man, you can pray to God for the grace to keep your marriage covenant so that God can answer all your prayers.

There are strange women out there too that are willing to destabilize marriages. So, as a man, you need to allow your eyes to be single. You need the grace to control your eyes so that you don’t end your marriage at the laps of Delilah just like the case of Samson. As women, we have to beware of men who have slinging tongues and they are willing to entangle you with their tongues. God gave the man an instruction not to eat the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil which was in the middle of the garden. However, Satan cunningly persuaded Eve into disobeying God by eating the forbidden fruit. Similarly, there are those today who, like Satan, seek to mislead women into straying from God’s commands. Therefore, as a woman, you need to constantly pray for the grace to keep your marriage covenant.

As we come together in prayer today, I ask that the Lord grant us the grace to faithfully keep His covenant, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Points:

  1. Father, I pray for the grace to keep my marriage covenant. I pray for the grace not to destroy my marriage through unfaithfulness. Lord, I pray for the grace to raise godly offspring. I pray for all our men that you will give them the grace to be faithful to their wives. Our men will not hate or divorce their wives in Jesus’ name. Instead, they will raise a godly home while fulfilling their marriage covenant in Jesus’ name.

Malachi 2:14-16 (NIV)

“You ask, ‘Why?’ It is because the Lord is the witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant. Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth. ‘The man who hates and divorces his wife,’ says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘does violence to the one he should protect,’ says the Lord Almighty. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful.”

2. Father, I pray that you will deliver the men from the forbidden women and from the adulteress with her smooth words. I pray that the men will not forget their marriage covenant and they will not sin against God in Jesus’ name.

Proverbs 2:16-17 (ESV)

“So you will be delivered from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words, who forsakes the companion of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God.”

3. Father, I pray for the grace to keep my marriage covenant. Lord, I pray for unity in my marriage and I pray that you will keep my marriage in Jesus’ name. I command Satan to lose his grip over my marriage in Jesus’ name

“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

4. Father, I pray that our men will love their wives as Christ loves the church and our women will submit to their husbands as the church submits to Christ in Jesus’ name.

Ephesians 5:31-33 (NKJV)

“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.”

Pray for the Faithfulness to Uphold Your Marital Commitment

9. Father, I pray that you will keep our marriages in Jesus’ name. Lord, we come against all issues that lead to separation or divorce in marriages in Jesus’ name. Father, we come against every spirit of misunderstanding in marriages and you will give us the grace to obey our marriage covenant in Jesus’ name.

1 Corinthians 7:10-11 (NIV)

“To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.”

“Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.”

13. Father, I pray that you will bless my fountain as I rejoice in the wife of my youth. I pray that I will be intoxicated with our love and I will not look at strange women in Jesus’ name. Father, I pray for the grace to keep my marriage covenant

Proverbs 5:18-19 (NIV)

“May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. A loving doe, a graceful deer—may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love.”

Praying for Endurance and Faithfulness in Your Marriage Covenant

14. Father, I pray that you will deliver Christian marriages from divorce in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray for homes at the verge of breaking down that you will rekindle your love in such homes in Jesus’ name. Father, I pray that you will give the couples the grace to keep their marriage covenant.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
