Praying For Kings And Nations Part 2
Day 31: 40 DAYS PRAYER, FASTING AND WORSHIP FEB 3rd to MARCH 14th, 2021. 2021, A YEAR OF NEW BEGINNING - ISAIAH 43:17-19
Short Exhortation About Praying For Kings And Nations
The scripture encourages us to pray for kings and those who are in authority. We need to pray for our leaders because the sin of a leader can affect his subject. When David ordered that census should be taken in Israel, God considered his behavior to be evil and He punished the Israelites for king David’s sin. 1 Chronicles 21:11-12 says “Gad went to David and told him, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Make a choice for yourself: either three years of famine, or three months of reversals as you are swept away by your enemies while the sword of your enemies overtakes you, or three days with the sword of the Lord, consisting of pestilence infecting the land, with the angel of the Lord wreaking destruction from border to border throughout all[ of Israel.’ Decide right now what I am to answer to the one who sent me.”
In the same vein, if a leader has a foresight, it could benefit the whole nation. When king Pharaoh had a dream of the seven years of famine and the seven years of abundance, Joseph eventually interpreted that dream and they had an adequate preparation in the time of famine. If king Pharaoh did not have the dream, there would not have been proper planning. What that means is that the famine would have caught the nation of Egypt unaware and they would have suffered so much when there was a famine in the land. Other nations where their king had no dream about the famine had to come to Egypt to buy food. The dream of a king can affect his subjects and when a king has no dream his subject will also be affected (Genesis 41:1-57).
When a nation lives right, the nation will be exalted. However, sins can condemn the people. Proverbs 14:34 says, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.” We will be praying for our nations and those who are in the position of authority.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, we thank you because you are the Most High God. We know that you are an awesome God and the great king over all the earth. Thank you Jesus, because you are the Lord who subdue nations under us and you choose our inheritance for us. Father we thank you because you are the Kings of kings, you reign over the nations and you sit on all your holy throne. We thank you Lord because the kings of the earth belong to you and you are highly exalted. In Jesus’ name.
Psalm 47:2-9
“For the Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth. He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet. He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom he loved. God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise. God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne. The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.”
2. Father, we pray that you will give all the people in authority the right advisers who will advise them rightly in Jesus’ name.
Proverbs 11:14
“For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.”
3. Lord, we pray that righteousness will be entrenched in the fabrics of every nation in Jesus’ name
Proverbs 14:34
“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.”
4. God, we pray that there will peace in our Jerusalem. We pray that our nation will be peaceful in Jesus’ name
Psalm 122:6
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure.”
5. Father, we pray for our leaders that you will inspire them to do the right things and take the right steps in Jesus’ name
1 Chronicles 21:7-17
“God considered this behavior to be evil, so he attacked Israel. David responded to God, “I sinned greatly by behaving this way. But now I am asking you, please remove the guilt of your servant, since I have acted very foolishly.”
So the Lord responded through Gad, David’s seer. “Go and tell David, ‘This is what the Lord says: “I’m holding three choices out for you: pick one of them for yourself, and I will do it to you.”
Gad went to David and told him, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Make a choice for yourself: Either three years of famine, or three months of reversals as you are swept away by your enemies while the sword of your enemies overtakes you, or three days with the sword of the Lord, consisting of pestilence infecting the land, with the angel of the Lord wreaking destruction from border to border throughout all of Israel.’ Decide right now what I am to answer to the one who sent me.”
So David replied to Gad, “This is a very bad choice for me to make! Let me now please fall into the hand of the Lord, because his mercy is very great, but may I never fall into human hands!”
Then the Lord sent a pestilence to Israel, and 70,000 men died in Israel. God also sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem, but as he was about to do so, the Lord looked and withdrew the calamity by saying to the destroying angel, “Enough! Stop what you’re doing!”
So the angel of the Lord remained standing near the threshing floor that belonged to Ornan the Jebusite. David looked up and saw the angel of the Lord standing between earth and heaven, with a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.
David told God, “Wasn’t I the one who ordered the census of the population? Wasn’t it I who sinned and acted wickedly? Now as for these sheep, what have they done? Lord God, please let your hand be against me and my ancestral household, but don’t let your people be ravaged by plague!”
6. Lord, we pray that there will be the fear of the Lord in the heart of all our leaders in Jesus’ name
Proverbs 9:10
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
7. Father, we pray that you will raise a holy nation among the nations of the earth. We pray that all the people from all the nations of the world will come out of darkness into God’s marvellous light
1 Peter 2:9
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
8. Lord, we pray that all kings, and every tongue in all nations of the earth will acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord. We pray that all kings of the earth will give glory to the name of the Lord in Jesus’ name
Philippians 2:5-11
“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledges that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
9. Lord, we pray that every evil plot by nations of the earth will be destroyed in Jesus’ name. We pray that every scheme and gathering of kings and rulers of the earth that is against the plans of the Lord shall be destroyed in Jesus’ name. Lord, we pray that you will make the nations of the earth our inheritance and the ends of the earth shall be our possessions in Jesus’ name. We pray that all the kings all over the earth will serve the Lord with fear and celebrate His rule with trembling in Jesus’ name.
Psalm 2:1-12
“Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.” The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.” Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”
10. Father, we pray that you will set up your kingdom on earth in Jesus’ name. We pray that you will crush the kingdom of darkness all over the world in Jesus’ name.
Daniel 2:44
“In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.”
11. Lord, we pray that your kingdom will come and your will will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We pray that the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people in Jesus’ name. We pray that all rulers all over the world will worship and obey God in Jesus’ name
Daniel 7:27
“Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.”
12. God, we pray that the nations will fear you and all the kings of the earth will revere your glory in Jesus’ name
Psalm 102:15
“The nations will fear the name of the Lord, all the kings of the earth will revere your glory.”
13. Lord, we pray that you will preserve and protect all who are worshipping you in Spirit and in truth in Jesus’ name. No man will be able to do us wrong and you will reprove kings for our sake in Jesus’ name
Psalm 105:14
“He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes”
14. Father, we pray that when the King of kings shall appear and separate the sheep from the goats, I will make heaven in Jesus’ name
Matthew 25:32-34
“All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.”
