The Soul

What is the soul of a person?

• • Your soul is the part of you that consists of your mind, character, thoughts, and feelings.

• The soul is made up of of your mind, your will and your emotions

• Our spirit differs from our soul because our spirit is always pointed toward and exists exclusively for God, whereas our soul can be self-centered.

• We see that the soul and spirit can be separated by God’s Word: “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow” (Hebrews. 4:12 NLT).
• The Word of God can “cut between,” or separate, the soul and spirit of man because they are different. There would be no need to divide them if they were the same. You cannot separate something from itself. A container of water divided into two parts still equals water.

3 John 2

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

• God wants to sanctify us spirit, soul and body

1 Thessalonians 5:23

Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

• The bible says that it is the Word of God that divided the soul and the spirit. 

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

• Your soul can magnify the Lord and your spirit can rejoice in God your Savior. Luke 1:46-47 shows the difference between you, your soul and your spirit

What are the attributes of a heart of gratitude?

• A heart of gratitude is humble in praise

Psalm 51:17 (CEB)

A broken spirit is my sacrifice, God. You won’t despise a heart, God, that is broken and crushed.

My [only] sacrifice [acceptable] to God is a broken spirit; A broken and contrite heart [broken with sorrow for sin, thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise.

• A grateful heart gives heartfelt praise to God

Bible Passage: Exodus 27:20-21

“Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning. 21 In the tent of meeting, outside the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law, Aaron and his sons are to keep the lamps burning before the Lord from evening till morning. This is to be a lasting ordinance among the Israelites for the generations to come.

Bible Text: Exodus 30:25 

“And you shall make of these a sacred anointing oil blended as by the perfumer; it shall be a holy anointing oil.”

Introduction

• Oil in the biblical revelation refers primarily to olive oil, not petroleum deposits. 
• Uses of oil were for food, but importantly for light (oil lamps, as in the temple, Exodus 27:20-21), 
• Oil is used for the consecration of the priests (Lev 8:30)

Definition

A mother

• A female parent (a person who gives birth to or raises a child)_Biological mother
• A woman in authority
• An old or elderly woman

The Godly Woman: An Epitome Of A Mother

To Quote

All women are not mothers, but all women are called to mother.

mother is to nurture, to train, to educate, to rear.

• Shout out to all women

• Incubating mothers (to maintain (something, such as an embryo or a chemically active system) under conditions favourable for hatching, development, or reaction)

• Facts

• Every female child with ovaries are born with all the eggs they need

• At foetus stage – 6M eggs

• At birth_ 1-2M eggs

• Puberty (menstruation starts)_ 300k-400k_approx. 10k eggs lost monthly/ approx. 1k lost in menstruation monthly

• Fertility reduces as egg count decreases
• Menopause_ run out of viable eggs
• Biological mothers

• Waiting mothers
• Acquired mothers_women making impacting generations in their community, in their area of influence

A mother is born when a child is born. A child is critical for the initiation of a mother

The Storm Is Over

The theme of this edition of of Divine Encounter is “The Storm Is Over.”

Mark 4:35-41

 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

What is a storm?

A storm is a violent disturbance of the atmosphere with strong winds and usually rain, thunder, lightning, or snow. It is also defined as a tumultuous reaction, an uproar or controversy. There are several types of storm. It could be marital, financial, relational, city-wide, national or global storm.

Marital Storm

• A marital storm is a storm that impacts your marriage negatively. This kind of storm causes chaos and turbulence in your marriage

The storm in marriages has no regard for status. There were marital storms in Abraham’s (Father of faith) marriage. Isaac (the child of promise) also experienced a storm in his marriage. Jacob (the man who wrestled with God) also experienced a storm in his marriage.
