The Garment of Praise
Special Thanksgiving Service: The Garment of Praise
Today, we are going to be considering the topic, ‘The Garment of Praise”
Introduction:
- The garment of praise is symbolic and you must not allow anyone to tamper with your garment of praise
- The choir is used to wearing some special robes. These special robes and other nice garments look very colorful on the choir whenever they wear it. However, if they wear all these special attires without putting on the garments of praise, they will not be able to render a quality worship to God
- They tore the physical garment on Paul and Silas, but they could not tamper with their garment of praise. With their garment of praise they were able to be victorious
Different types of garments mentioned in the bible
- The garments worn by the King of kings and Lord of lords
Revelation 19:16
On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
- The garments of salvation
Isaiah 61:10
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
- The garments of royalty
Esther 8:15
Then Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal robes of blue and white, with a great golden crown and a robe of fine linen and purple, and the city of Susa shouted and rejoiced.
- The garments of righteous deeds of the saints
Revelation 19:8
It was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”— for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.
- The garments stained by the flesh
Jude 1:23
Save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.

The Holy Spirit as a Fire
The Emblem of The Holy Spirit Part 3: The Holy Spirit as a Fire
Why is fire a symbol of the Holy Spirit?
Fire: Fire as symbol of the Holy Spirit is indicated in the statements about the Holy Spirit’s baptism (Matt. 3:11) and the tongues of fire on the coming of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:3-4). Fire illuminates, warms, refines, purifies and can change material from one form to another
Jesus Christ is the one who baptizes with fire
Matthew 3:11
“I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Forgiveness: The Lord’s Prayer Part 7
What is forgiveness?
Forgiveness, according to the Bible, is correctly understood as God’s promise not to count our sins against us. Biblical forgiveness requires repentance on our part and faith in Jesus Christ.
Psalm 65:3
Though we are overwhelmed by our sins, you forgive them all.
1 John 2:2
He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
Repentance precedes forgiveness: What is repentance?
- It is the act of leaving what God has prohibited and returning to what He has commanded.
- The word denotes the act of being repentant for one’s misdeeds, atoning for those misdeeds, and having a strong determination to forsake those misdeeds
Joel 2:13
Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.

The Holy Spirit As A Dove
The Emblems of The Holy Spirit Part 2: The Holy Spirit As a Dove
Today, we are going to be continue our series on the Holy Spirit as we look into “The Emblems of The Holy Spirit Part 2: The Holy Spirit as a Dove”
John 1:32
John testified saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him.
What is an emblem?
An emblem is a thing serving as a symbolic representation of a particular quality or concept.
The Significance of the Dove as a Symbol
Taking all three of these examples into consideration, the Jewish people would have known and understood the symbolism of the dove from Old Testament stories and teachings. For the Spirit to descend upon Jesus in the form of a dove at His baptism was a public display of Christ’s divinity, a confirmation of His anointing, and a connection between His ministry and previous symbols of the dove

Easter Friday: It is Finished
Sermon Topic: It is Finished
Today as we celebrate the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, we will be considering the topic “It is Finished.”
Bible Text: John 19:28-30
28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” 29 Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. 30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
Introduction
- “It is finished” was a statement of accomplishment from Jesus. It demonstrates that He knew His assignment while on earth. He worked on His assignment and finished it.
- Jesus Christ was born for a purpose. His purpose had been prophesied long before He was born by Prophet Isaiah. The angel told His parents that. He was sent to save the world from their sins (Matthew 1:18-24)
Matthew 1:18-24
This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

The Lord’s Prayer Part 6: Our Daily Bread
Our Daily Bread
Today, we will be continuing our series in ‘The Lord’s Prayer Part 6″ as we consider the topic ‘Our Daily Bread.”
Bible Passage: Matthew 6:9-13
“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one
Bible Text: Matthew 6:11
“Give us today our daily bread”
What is daily bread?
- Daily bread is the food a person needs everyday. People work to earn their daily bread.
- Bread remains a powerful symbol of the rudimentary basis of provision for our needs.
- In the language of Western culture, we sometimes speak of one partner in a marriage as the wage earner of the home. More colloquially, we call that partner “the breadwinner. It used to be almost exclusively the husband, but not so much these days.
- When the bible talks about praying for our daily bread here, it could be a physical meal or spiritual meal. It could be physical bread or the Bread of Life, which is the Word of God
- When Satan came to tempt Jesus, He said that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from God’s mouth – Matthew 4:4. He was invariably quoting Deuteronomy 8:3
- What that means is that we need both a physical meal and spiritual meal for us to live. If you live on a physical meal alone, you will be malnourished spiritually. In a similar manner, if you live on a spiritual meal alone, it won’t be long before you die physically.
- According to research, it is possible for someone to live without food for 8 to 21 days and without food and water for up to two months if there is an adequate water intake. So, food is essential
- For you to stay alive physically, you cannot do without the physical bread. In like manner, for you to stay alive spiritually, you can not do without the spiritual bread

The Emblem of The Holy Spirit Part 1:The Holy Spirit as a Clothing
The Holy Spirit as a Clothing
Today, we are going to begin a series on “The Emblem of The Holy Spirit Part 1” while considering the topic “The Holy Spirit as a Clothing.”
Bible Text: Luke 24:49
And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
Introduction
God plans to cloth us with power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us
Clothing is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. After His resurrection, Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem “until you have been clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49). The passive voice of the verb indicates that the individual does not dress himself. The apostles were to remain in Jerusalem until they were “clothed” by God with the Holy Spirit’s power
What are clothes?
- Clothes are garments worn on the body for protection or adornment.
- Cloth is synonymous to attire, garb, regalia, costume, raiment, garments, dress, or wear,
