It means to bless, to beautify or glorify
What time are we supposed to worship God?
- We should worship God to show our appreciation after He has answered our prayers
- Hannah worshiped God after receiving answers to her prayer – See the highlights of Hannah’s prayer

- Hannah was barren for a very long time
- She prayed to God for a son and promised to give him back to God if God should answer her prayer
- God answered her by giving her a son
- She fulfilled her promise by giving the son back to God
- She also prayed this prayer of thanksgiving to God

Who is Jesus?
- He is the Apostle and the High Priest of our Confession
Hebrews 3:1
Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession.
- He is the Mediator between God and man – Who is a mediator? A mediator is a person who mediates, especially between parties at variance.
1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
- He is the founder and the perfecter of our faith – We can have no faith without Him. Our faith is not perfect without Him. He is the basis for our faith
Hebrews 12:2
Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Our Father in Heaven – The Lord’s Prayer Part 2
Who is our Father in Heaven?
- Adonai – In Hebrew, it means ‘my Lord is God”
Psalm 83:18
“Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD— that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.”
- Jehovah Jireh – This means “God will provide.” Jehovah Jireh was the location of the binding of Isaac, where Yahweh told Abraham to offer his son Isaac as a burnt offering. Abraham named the place after God provided a ram to sacrifice in place of Isaac
Genesis 22:14
So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”
- El – It means “the Strong one”. The name is also explained as “the face of God,” peni-el ( in the footnote to Genesis 14:19, as explained in the New American Bible, it is explained that ‘el” became a way of referring to God. Peniel was the place where Jacob had an encounter with God and it is very significant because it brought about a divine shift in the life of Jacob
Genesis 14:19
“And he blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.”

What is Blasphemy Against The Holy Spirit?
- Blasphemy is the act or offense of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things; It is a profane talk
- “Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit” is conscious and hardened opposition to the truth, “because the Spirit is truth”
- The sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit is essentially the sin of rejecting Christ.
- By continually rejecting God’s free gift of salvation in Jesus, a sinner sears his conscience (ignores the voice of the Holy Spirit) and stiffens his neck. Eventually, he gets to the place where genuine repentance is no longer possible.

What is Prayer?
Prayer is the communication between man and God. Prayer is giving our attention to God in a two-way spiritual relationship where we talk to God and also listen to Him.
Salient Points About Prayer
- Prayer is one of the important subject that Jesus taught His disciples
- He taught them not to pray to show off like the Pharisees would normally do. Here we realized that God is looking at your motive for praying. (Matthew 6:5)
- When we pray, Jesus taught us not to keep on babbling like pagans. What is babbling? Blabbing is the action of talking rapidly and continuously in a foolish, excited, or incomprehensible way. It means making a continuous murmuring sound.
- God said that these pagans that are babbling think they will be heard because of their many words. He said we should not be like them, for our Father knows what we need before we ask him.

What does it mean to tempt the Spirit of the Lord?
It means to make needless trials of God’s goodness, mercy, power or providence, from a distrustful heart in the truth of His Word.
We need to establish that the Holy Spirit is God
Several bible references talked about tempting God. Acts 5:3-4 referred to the Holy Spirit as God
Acts 5:3-4
Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4 Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.

What does it mean to grieve someone?
- To grieve means to cause great distress to someone
- It is synonymous to hurt, wound, sting, sadden, upset, devastate or to break someone’s heart

We need to understand the person of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not an “It” but a “Him.” The Holy Spirit is not only God, but He also has a will, a personality, and can be offended!
There are six specific sins that can be committed against the Holy Spirit. During our last bible study, we considered the topic “Lying against the Holy Spirit.” Today, we will focus on, “Grieving the Holy Spirit.”
