Express Your Praise and Gratitude To God

Express Your Praise and Gratitude To God

Today, we will express our praise and gratitude to God. The most difficult time to praise God is when things seem not to be going well. The Shunammite woman expressed remarkable faith, praise, and gratitude even in the midst of losing her son, as recounted in 2 Kings 4:8-37. When her son suddenly died, instead of despairing, she demonstrated a profound trust in God’s power and refused to accept defeat. Here are key ways she expressed her faith and gratitude:

  1. Faith and Confidence in God’s Prophet:

After her son’s death, the Shunammite woman immediately sought out the prophet Elisha, not focusing on the loss itself. She showed faith in God’s ability to restore life through His servant, indicating her belief that God could still intervene. Her action of going directly to the man of God, despite the severity of the situation, was a sign of trust in God’s power rather than lamentation.

  2. Her Response of “It Is Well”:

Even when people along the way, including her husband and Elisha’s servant Gehazi, asked her about her son’s condition, she simply responded, “It is well” (2 Kings 4:23, 26). This phrase reflected her deep trust in God’s sovereignty and a refusal to accept the death as final. Though her son had died, she still expressed hope in God’s goodness. She expressed her praise and gratitude to God

  3. Persistent Faith for Restoration:

When she reached Elisha, the Shunammite woman fell at his feet, not to grieve but to plead for the restoration of her son. Her action was an expression of her belief that God could still perform a miracle through Elisha.

  4. Gratitude in Receiving Her Son Back:

After Elisha prayed, God miraculously restored her son to life. Though the passage doesn’t explicitly record her words of gratitude, her actions in seeking Elisha, believing in God’s power, and receiving her son alive again show the gratitude she held in her heart.

This story highlights her unwavering faith and quiet confidence in God’s faithfulness, even in difficult circumstances. Through her responses, the Shunammite woman serves as an example of how one can express faith and gratitude, trusting God in the face of adversity. You can also express your praise and gratitude to God in season and without season.
