Pray Against Every Evil Covenant

Pray Against Every Evil Covenant

Today, we will pray against every evil covenant. Although God is a covenant keeping God, He is also a God that can break or destroy evil covenants. For instance, if you have entered into a covenant with death or make an agreement with the realm of the dead, God can destroy it. Some people have entered some evil covenants with the devil by joining secret cults. Some have entered into agreements with wicked souls and they don’t know the way out. God can break every evil covenant.

Jesus delivered Mary Magdalene, a woman who had seven demons. Jesus healed her by casting them out. After her healing, Mary Magdalene became a devoted follower of Jesus, and she is frequently mentioned in the Gospels as one of the women who supported Jesus’ ministry and was present at His crucifixion and resurrection. When Mary Magdalene had an encounter with Jesus, He destroyed all the evil covenants she might have with demons. So, it doesn’t really matter if you have entered a covenant with wicked demons, God has the power to deliver you from all forms of evil covenants.

A Testament of Freedom: Jesus’ Power to Break Every Evil Covenant

Jesus met a man in the region of the Gerasenes (also called Gadarenes), across the Sea of Galilee. The man had many demons and lived among the tombs, isolated from society because of his violent and uncontrollable behavior. He was so strong that he broke the chains that were used to bind him. When Jesus arrived, the possessed man ran to Him and fell at His feet, recognizing Jesus as the “Son of the Most High God” (Mark 5:7). The demons, knowing Jesus’ power, begged not to be sent away but instead asked to be sent into a nearby herd of pigs.

Jesus commanded the unclean spirits to leave the man. The demons identified themselves as “Legion,” indicating they were many. Jesus permitted them to enter the pigs, and the herd—about 2,000 in number—rushed down the steep bank into the lake and drowned. God completely restored the man to his right mind. The people of the town, amazed and fearful of what had happened, asked Jesus to leave their region. The man who had been possessed wanted to follow Jesus, but Jesus told him to go home to his own people and tell them how much the Lord had done for him.

Jesus still has the power to break every evil covenant. If God can deliver this man who had this many demons, God can also deliver you from every evil covenant.

Understanding the Spiritual Implications of Marrying an Unbeliever

When you marry an unbeliever, you are entering an evil covenant. If a believer is a child of God, then anyone who is an unbeliever is considered as the child of the devil. So, when you marry an unbeliever, you will have the devil as your father-in-law. 2 Corinthians 6:14-16 (NIV) says,  “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.'”

When you have a partnership with those who are in darkness, you are entering an evil covenant unknowingly. You have to be very careful of the association that you keep and you have to dissociate yourself from wicked people. If you are the type who seeks help from foreign gods, you are entering evil covenants with those gods which will eventually work against you. If you are the type who commits adultery, you are unknowingly entering into an evil covenant with the devil. As we pray today, I pray that every evil covenant shall be broken in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Points:

  1. Father, I pray against every evil covenant. I cancel every covenant with death in Jesus’ name. I pray that when an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it will not touch me and my household in Jesus’  name.

Isaiah 28:15 (NIV)

“You boast, ‘We have entered into a covenant with death, with the realm of the dead we have made an agreement. When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it cannot touch us, for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood our hiding place.’”

2. Father, I pray that you will destroy every evil covenant in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that you will annul every covenant with death and I pray that agreement with Sheol will not stand in Jesus’ name. I pray that when overwhelming scourge passess through, I will not be beaten down by it in Jesus’ name.

Isaiah 28:18 (ESV)

“Then your covenant with death will be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol will not stand; when the overwhelming scourge passes through, you will be beaten down by it.”

3. Father, I pray that you will give me the grace not to make covenant with strange gods. Lord, I pray for the grace not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. Father, I pray that you will deliver me from the snare of the fowler and against evil covenants in Jesus’ name.

Exodus 23:32-33 (KJV)

“Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.”

4. Father, I pray against evil covenants in Jesus’ name. Lord, I receive the grace not to make covenants with strange gods in Jesus’ name.

Deuteronomy 7:2 (NKJV)

“And when the Lord your God delivers them over to you, you shall conquer them and utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them.”

Break Every Ungodly Covenant Through Prayer

5. Father, I pray that I will not be yoked together with unbelievers. I pray that I will not have anything in common with wickedness and I will not fellowship with darkness. Lord, I pray that I will not be in harmony with Belial and I will have nothing in common with unbelievers in Jesus’ name. Father, I pray that you will give me the grace to have no agreement with idols. I come against every evil covenant in Jesus’ name.

2 Corinthians 6:14-16 (NIV)

“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.

6. Father, I pray for the grace to obey your covenant. Lord, I pray that I will not turn from you to worship the gods of other nations. I pray against every evil covenant in Jesus’ name.

Deuteronomy 29:18-19 (NLT)

“I am making this covenant with you so that no one among you—no man, woman, clan, or tribe—will turn away from the Lord our God to worship these gods of other nations, and so that no root among you bears bitter and poisonous fruit. Those who hear the warnings of this curse should not congratulate themselves, thinking, ‘I am safe, even though I am following the desires of my own stubborn heart.’ This would lead to utter ruin!”

7. Father, I pray that I will not be an ally to a corrupt throne. Lord, I pray that I will not be in the company of the wicked. I pray against any evil covenant in my household in Jesus’ name.

Psalm 94:20-21 (NIV)

“Can a corrupt throne be allied with you— a throne that brings on misery by its decrees? The wicked band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.”

8. Father, I pray that you will deliver my generation and my descendants from the evil covenant in Jesus’ name. I pray that my descendants will not serve wood and stone in Jesus’ name. I pray against evil covenants.

Ezekiel 20:32 (NIV)

“You say, ‘We want to be like the nations, like the peoples of the world, who serve wood and stone. But what you have in mind will never happen.'”

Destroying Evil Covenants in Prayer

9. Father, I pray for the grace to be faithful to you. Lord, I pray that I will not engage in detestable things in Jesus’ name. I pray that I will not desecrate your sanctuary and I will not have any relationship with strange women who worship foreign gods. I pray against every evil covenant in Jesus’ name.

Malachi 2:11 (NIV)

“Judah has been unfaithful. A detestable thing has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem: Judah has desecrated the sanctuary the Lord loves by marrying women who worship a foreign god.”

10.  Father, I pray that I will not defile myself by engaging in prostitution in Jesus’ name. I pray against every evil covenant in my home in Jesus’ name.

Psalm 106:39 (NIV)

“They defiled themselves by what they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves.”

11. Father, I pray for the grace not to return to the sins of my ancestors in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that I will listen to your Word and I will not follow other gods to serve them. Father, I come against evil covenants and I pray that I will not break your covenant in Jesus’ name.

Jeremiah 11:10 (NIV)

“They have returned to the sins of their ancestors, who refused to listen to my words. They have followed other gods to serve them. Both Israel and Judah have broken the covenant I made with their ancestors.”

12. Father, I pray that I will be united with you all the days of my life in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that I will not be unfaithful to you in Jesus’ name. I pray against every evil covenant in Jesus’ name.

Jeremiah 3:8 (NIV)

“I gave faithless Israel her certificate of divorce and sent her away because of all her adulteries. Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear; she also went out and committed adultery.”
