Pray Against The Forces of Darkness
Today, we will pray against the forces of darkness hindering the gospel in the land. God’s will is for the gospel to spread throughout our land. When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He said that we should pray that God’s kingdom should come. He also mentioned that we should pray that God’s will will be done on earth as it is in heaven. However, 2 Corinthians 4:4 says, “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” We need to always pray that God will deliver the unbelievers from spiritual blindness that is preventing them from seeing the light of the gospel.
There was a time when Apostle Paul and Barnabas were traveling through the land of Paphos. Sergius Paulus, the proconsul, sent for them because he wanted to hear the Word of God. There was also a man whose name is Bar-Jesus who is also called Elymas the sorcerer. He tried to oppose them and he tried to turn the proconsul from the faith. However, Paul rebuked the sorcerer and the proconsul was eventually saved.
Praying Against The Forces Hindering The Gospel
Acts 13:9-11 says, “Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, “You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind for a time, not even able to see the light of the sun.” Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand. There are many forces of darkness hindering the gospel in the land today who are like Bar-Jesus. We need to come against them through prayers.
The forces of darkness hindering the gospel in our land do that through various means today. At times, they operate through our political system. They operate through legislation that is contrary to godly laws. Most of the time, they operate through the media houses and they sow seeds that oppose the gospel. These forces of darkness also go through our educational system. They try to ensure that our children are wrongly educated against the laws of God. However, we can pray against the forces of darkness hindering the gospel in our land. I pray against the forces of darkness hindering the gospel in our land in Jesus’ name.
Prayer Points
- Father, I pray that you will deliver our land from all forces of darkness hindering the spread of the gospel. I pray that you will open the eyes of unbelievers from spiritual blindness. Lord, I pray that they will see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:4
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
2. Father, I come against rulers, against authorities and against the powers of this dark world in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. I pray against the forces of darkness hindering the spread of the gospel in our land in Jesus’ name
Ephesians 6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms
3. Father, I pray that all the believers will arise and shine their light in this nation. Lord, I pray against the forces of darkness hindering the spread of the gospel in our land in Jesus’ name. Father, I pray that nations will come to my light and kings to the brightness of my dawn in Jesus’ name
Isaiah 60:1-3
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. 2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. 3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
4. Father, I pray that the Light will shine in the darkness engulfing this nation and the darkness will not comprehend it in Jesus’ name.
John 1:5
The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
5. Father, I pray that you will open the eyes of those who are in darkness and let them see the light in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that you will turn the earth of men from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God in Jesus’ name.
Acts 26:17-18
I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
6. Father, I pray that you will rescue our land from the domain of darkness and turn the hearts of men from darkness to the kingdom of Light in Jesus’ name
Colossians 1:13
For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son
7. Father, I pray that you will expose the work of darkness in this land in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that your light will put an end to the works of darkness in our nation in Jesus’ name
Ephesians 5:13
But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light.
8. Father, I pray that you will touch the hearts of men and deliver them from the love of darkness. Lord, I pray that your light will shine in this nation and you will expose and judge all evil deeds in Jesus’ name
John 3:19
This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil
9. Father, I pray that light shall shine out of darkness in this nation in Jesus’ name. I pray that the light of Jesus shall shine in our land and the light will reveal the knowledge of the glory of God in Jesus’ name
2 Corinthians 4:6
For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ
10. Father, I pray that you will deliver all those who are participating in the unfruitful deeds of darkness in this land and you will expose them in Jesus’ name
Ephesians 5:11
Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them
11. Father, I pray that you will give the people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins. Lord, I pray that your rising sun will come from heaven and shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death in Jesus’ name. Let your light guide our nation to the path of peace in Jesus’ name
Luke 1:77-79
To give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, 78 because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven 79 to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
12. Father, I pray that you will build your church in this nation and the powers of hell will not conquer it in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray that you will deliver this land from all the forces of darkness hindering the the spread of the gospel in Jesus’ name
Matthew 16:18 (NLT)
Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.

Acts 13:6-13
They traveled through the whole island until they came to Paphos. There they met a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus, 7 who was an attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith. 9 Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said,
