Praying For Mercy in The Name of Jesus

We have obtained grace and mercy through Jesus. It is actually a settled case according to the scriptures. So, we will be praying for mercy in the name of Jesus. What is mercy? Mercy is the compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm. We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. However, today, we can draw near the throne of grace with confidence and we will receive mercy and find grace to help in our times of need.

David Was a Product of God’s Mercy

David was not qualified to be called a child of God let alone a man after God’s heart. If we consider all the atrocities that David committed, Jesus was not supposed to come from his lineage, but David obtained mercy. David wrote many verses in the scriptures about God’s mercy. He was the writer of Psalm 23:6 which says “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever”. Psalm 145:9 says, “The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.” In Psalm 103:8, he also said, “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.”

If you have committed the kind of sins that David committed you would have known for sure that it takes God’s mercy for David’s throne to be established. He committed adultery with Beersheba and killed Uriah, her husband. He covered up this sin and married Beersheba until God exposed him. Nevertheless, after he received forgiveness, God made Solomon, a product of that marriage, the king after David.

Bartimaeus Cried Out For Mercy

In the book of Luke 10:47, Bartimaeus the blind man heard that Jesus was passing by, the bible says, “When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” When Jesus heard his cry, He stopped and He healed him. There is still a connection between David whom God had mercy on and Jesus who was described as the Son of David. If you can call on Jesus’ name today, He will show you mercy. Today, we are going to be praying for mercy in the name of Jesus.
