Praying That You Will Not Grow Weary
Today, we will be praying that we will not grow weary. To grow weary means to be exhausted in strength. It means having one’s patience, tolerance, or pleasure exhausted. It is possible to grow weary of doing good especially if you are not getting the expected result. However, God promised us in Galatians 6:9 that if we are not weary of doing good, we will reap in due season if we do not give up. So, you should not allow any situation that you are going through to make you grow weary. If you are already growing weary, God is ready to supply you strength.
One of the characteristics of God is that He does not grow weary. So, God has the power to give strength to those who are weary from the race. Isaiah 40:28 says, “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.” One of the things that the devil capitalizes on to attack the believers is weariness. SInce our God does grow weary, He has the capacity to strengthen those who are weary. He promised us in Isaiah 40:31 that we shall run and not be weary. It means we shall not be exhausted from running our Christian race.
God Energizes Those Who Are Weary
Isaiah 40:29 (MSG) says, “He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts.” Here, we realize that God gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might He increases strength. Verse 30 and 31 of the same chapter says that even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength. There is strength for those who wait upon God. Are you feeling exhausted? If yes, as you wait upon God, your strength will be renewed. If you are weary from the fight, you need a time of refreshing from the Lord. You can only get this time of refreshing from God when you wait on Him.
God Delivered Elijah From Weariness
There was a time when Elijah was weary from the fight. God had just used him mightily for great exploits in the land. He had just killed about 450 prophets of Baal. After these great exploits, Jezebel was seeking to kill Elijah and he ran away in fear. 1 Kings 19:4 says, “Then he went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.”
Let us take a brief look at who Elijah was. Elijah was the prophet who called down fire two times and destroyed two captains of fifty who came to arrest him. The third captain was only lucky because he begged that Elijah should spare his life and the lives of the fifty. God had used him to bring a dead person back to life. He was the one who called down fire from heaven on the offering offered during the contest he had with the prophet of Baal. Elijah was a fiery prophet, yet he grew weary when Jezebel said that she would kill him. This shows that except God strengthens you, you can also grow weary.
God gave Elijah a supernatural meal and his strength was renewed afterwards. God is still in the business of strengthening those who are weary from the fight. As we call on God today, I pray that God will take care of all forms of weariness in Jesus’ name. You will soar with wings like the eagles and you shall fly high in Jesus’ name
