Pray Against Sinful Habits That Can Affect Your Spiritual Authority

Pray Against Sinful Habits That Can Affect Your Spiritual Authority

Today, we will pray that sinful habits will not take away our spiritual authority as believers in Jesus’ name. When God created Adam and Eve and placed them in the beautiful garden, He gave them authority to rule over all His creatures. Man had dominion over God’s creation until Satan crept in. Satan introduced man to sin and man lost his spiritual authority. Luke 4:5-6 says, “The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to.”

In the above bible passage, Satan was actually boasting that he will give Jesus Christ the authority and splendor of all the kingdoms of the world which has beed delivered to him. Truly, man handed over his authority to Satan when he sinned against God. Satan wanted to use the same strategy for Jesus, but Jesus did not fall for it. Jesus obeyed God completely and totally and there is no sin found in Him. No wonder, God has given Him authority and a name that is above every other name. In the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, either in heaven, on earth or under the earth (Philippians 2:10-11).

Pray Against Sinful Habits

We have some records of some who also lost their spiritual authority due to sin. The lineage of Eli supposed to be in the Priesthood office forever. However, when the two Eli’s sons, Phinehas and Hophni sinned against God, He took away the Priesthood office from that lineage and gave it to Samuel (1 Samuel 2:27-30). God does not tolerate sinful habits. Romans 6:1 says, “What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?” Even Satan lost his spiritual authority in heaven when he sinned against God. Satan fell from heaven because iniquity was found in him. You can imagine how powerful Satan was while he was in heaven. However, he fell when iniquity was found in him (Isaiah 14:12-14). Now, believers can trample on him and overcome all his power (Luke 10:19).

Judas was one of the Apostles of Jesus Christ. He was one of the seventy that Jesus Christ sent out and came back with a great report about how demons were submitting to them. He was the treasurer of Jesus Christ, a position that should be reserved for someone with a high integrity. However, Judas was pilfering. He was very greedy, and that led him to betray Jesus Christ for thirty pieces of silver. Eventually, his bishopric was given to someone else. When you sin to God habitually, you will lose your spiritual authority. Acts 1:20 says, “For,” said Peter, “it is written in the Book of Psalms: “’May his place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in it,’ and, “’May another take his place of leadership.’ I pray that you will not lose your spiritual authority due to sinful habits in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Points

  1. Father, I pray that you will deliver me from every sinful habit that might hinder my spiritual authority in Jesus’ name.

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?

The Lord anointed you king over Israel. 18 And he sent you on a mission, saying, ‘Go and completely destroy those wicked people, the Amalekites; wage war against them until you have wiped them out.’ 19 Why did you not obey the Lord? Why did you pounce on the plunder and do evil in the eyes of the Lord?”

20 “But I did obey the Lord,” Saul said. “I went on the mission the Lord assigned me. I completely destroyed the Amalekites and brought back Agag their king. 21 The soldiers took sheep and cattle from the plunder, the best of what was devoted to God, in order to sacrifice them to the Lord your God at Gilgal.”

22 But Samuel replied: “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.”

4. Father, I pray that no one will take my place of leadership due to sinful habits. I pray that no one will take my place in Jesus’ name. I pray that I will not lose my spiritual authority due to sin in Jesus’ name.

Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the Lord, contrary to his command. 2 So fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.

7. Father, I pray that the sins of my children or household will not make me lose my spiritual authority in Jesus’ name. Lord, I pray for the grace to honor you more than anyone.

1 Samuel 2:27-30

Now a man of God came to Eli and said to him, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Did I not clearly reveal myself to your ancestor’s family when they were in Egypt under Pharaoh? 28 I chose your ancestor out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to burn incense, and to wear an ephod in my presence. I also gave your ancestor’s family all the food offerings presented by the Israelites. 29 Why do you scorn my sacrifice and offering that I prescribed for my dwelling? Why do you honor your sons more than me by fattening yourselves on the choice parts of every offering made by my people Israel?’

30 “Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.’ But now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained. 31 The time is coming when I will cut short your strength and the strength of your priestly house, so that no one in it will reach old age

8. Father, I pray that I will not die prematurely due to sinful habits in Jesus’ name. I pray that sin will not deprive me of my spiritual authority in Jesus’ name.

The ark of God was captured, and Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, died.

Isaiah 14:12-14

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
