Thank God For Giving You Spiritual Authority
Thank God For Giving You Spiritual Authority
Today, let us thank God for giving us spiritual authority. What is spiritual authority? Spiritual authority is “the God-given right to receive and use God’s power that flows from the indwelling Holy Spirit.” God has given Jesus Christ all authority in heaven and earth (Matthew 28:18). Jesus gave the Church that authority that was given to him. As a believer, we can use that authority in the name of Jesus and the demons will bow and sickness will disappear. Luke 9:1 says, “And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases.” This authority that Jesus gave us gives us an advantage over demonic forces. They bow and tremble at our command.
We have spiritual authority over snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy. Luke 10:19 says, “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” We need to thank God for what He has given us. By this authority, spiritual wickedness, cosmic rulers, powers and principalities have no power over us. The dominion that Satan snatched from us in the garden of Eden has been restored back to us through Jesus Christ. The dwelling place of Satan is now under our feet. He is that great serpent that tempted Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. All Satan’s emissaries are categorized as serpents and scorpions and we have authority over them and their power.
God Has Given You Authority Over Sins and Devil’s Work
Another reason why we need to thank God is because we have authority over sins. Romans 6:14 (ESV) says, “For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.” Are you suffering from addictions? Do you currently have some ungodly habits? You can take authority over those habits. Are you currently being ruled by the flesh? You can exercise your authority over the flesh. 1 John 3:8 says, “Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” Jesus Christ came to the world to destroy the works of the devil so you have victory over the devils work. So, we have every reason to thank God for giving us spiritual authority.
As believers, we don’t fight for victory but we fight from victory. God gave the Israelites that land that is flowing with milk and honey while the inhabitants were still there. It means that before they started fighting for the land, God had already given them victory. That is the way we fight as Christians. Therefore, we have every reason to give thanks to God. As we pray today, I pray that our praise and thanksgiving will be a sweet fragrance to God in Jesus’ name.
